Kids celebrate birthday Elizabeth Fear remembered in dedication During the morning service at Knox Presbyterian Church, Bel­ grave, a Pulpit Fall was dedicated in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Fear. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Fear of Moorefield attended the service. A number of relatives and friends of Miss Lilia Taylor honour­ ed her on her 80th birthday at an Open House held at 45 Alfred St., Wingham, on Sunday afternoon, November 23. Mrs. Sara Anderson spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hartlin of Kingston, Mrs. Ella Green and Miss Hazel Young of PerthOntarioandMr. and Mrs. William Schreiber of Mil ton. The officers of the Bible Society wish to thank everyone who collected and those who contribut­ ed to make a successful canvass in the Belgrave District. Belgrave friends and neigh­ bours wish to extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Morton on the passing of his brother-in-law Lome Payne of Newmarket. 10 tables at euchre Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Spivey and Mr. and Mrs. George Procter and family attended the Royal Agricul­ tural Winter Fair in Toronto where they participated in the Junior Barrow Show and the Market Hog Classic Competition. Jennifer’s Barrows were Champion and’ Reserve, while Kate’s placed third. George and Arnie had had the Champion pen of three Market Barrows. Miss Donna Higgins, who is attending Georgian College in Orillia, spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins and her brother Bruce. Mrs. Laura Johnston visited on the weekend with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton. Miss Edith Stokes and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill visited on Sunday with her son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Elliott and family of Arkona. Jeremy Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, cele­ brated his sixth birthday at his home November 20. Friends celebrating with him were: Allie Culbert, Kendra Folk- hard, Shannon Cook, Becky Buch­ anan, Julie Snow, Jody Walker, Michelle Pletch, Ryan Cook, Luke Lockridge, Jamie McCallum, Michael Marks, MathewCamp- bell, David Piluke, Douglas Rivest and his brother Justin. There will be euchre again this Wednesday evening starting at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Winners were: high lady, Mrs. Reta Drehmann; novelty lady, Majestic Wl hears Arnold Mathers The Majestic Women’s Institute held the Education and Cultural Acitivites meeting under the con­ venorship of Mrs. Cecil Moore and Mrs. Ruth Galbraith in library on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. The meeting opened with the Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Col­ lect and hymn, “Of all Nations.’’ Mrs. Ruth Galbraith read the motto, “Our multinational heri­ tage has given our busy hands many handicrafts to fill our leisure hand.’’ A humorous skit presented by Mrs. M. Pipe, Mrs. Lyle Brothers, Mrs. Doug Hemingway and Mrs. Ida Evans brought reminiscence of practising for an “ Old Tyme School Concert.’’ Mrs. Harold Steffler introduced the guest speaker Mr. Arnold Mathers of Exeter, superintendent with the Huron County Board of Education, who spoke on Special Education and Bill 82. In apprecia­ tion Mrs. Steffler thanked Mr. Mathers and presented him with a gift for his informative talk. The President, Mrs. Kathy Bridge chaired the business meet­ ing. Minutes, correspondence and the treasurer’s report were read by the secretary, Mrs. Leona Connel­ ly- The next card party will be Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. in the library. The committee in charge includes Mrs. Clem McLellan, Mrs. Kathy Bridge and Mrs. Ida Evans. Mrs. Ruth Galbraith was named as co-ordinator. The Institute has tote bags for sale at $5 each. The Christmas pot luck dinner will be held Dec. 10 in the library. Donations to shut-ins and a $2 gift exchange are to be brought. The quilt draw is to be made at this meeting. Mrs. Iona Moore is to represent the Institute at the 115th Centen­ nial meeting. A substantial sum was voted on to be paid towards the new carpet.
