Liberals back Turner
Support seems strong among
Huron-Bruce riding Liberals for
John Turner heading into this
week's national convention in
Ottawa at which therewill be a vote
on whether or not to hold a
leadership review.
At the $25-dollar a plate annual
banquet in Holmesville Thursday
night. riding secretary Heather
Redick of Zurich read a press
release from the executive of the
Western Ontario North Liberal
Association from its meeting in
Mildinav on Nov. 7. It read: "This
association supports and endorses
John Turner as leader of the
Federal Liberal Party. We would
urge all delegates in Western
Ontario to fully support the leader
in the upcoming National Conven
tion in Ottawa, November 27
November 30, 198b.
The announcement brought a
strong round of applause. During
the evening leaders of the move
ment to call for a leadership
convention such as Senator Keith
Davey were roasted in everything
from the entertainment (two per
formers doing song parodies on
political themes) to introductions
of speakers.
1 he party hail ea< 1 ier elected
