George Collin, assistant deputy minister of marketing and stand ards, said Soviet buyers showed interest in purchasing Ontario corn before the end of the Great Lake’s shipping season. “It’s been left to the Canadian grain industry to negotiate the sales and the price with Soviet buyers, ’ ’ said Collin, who headed a seven-person mission to Poland, Hungary, the German Democratic Republic, Austria and the Soviet Union. “Sales will depend on the price competitiveness of the On tario product.’’ Earlier this year, the Ontario corn industry made the largest single shipment of grain corn to the USSR-- 100,000 tonnes of grain worth about $15 million.
