Paul Chambers of Clinton spent last week with his grandparents Gloria and Jim McEwing. Don Buchanan returned home on Saturday after spending five days in Seaforth Community Hos­ pital. Sunday School crokinole party was held on Friday, November 21 with 32 playing and three teachers present. The results were high lady, Lisa Kennedy; low, Kerrie Szusz; high man, Chris Kennedy; low, Richard Burgsma; lucky cup, Joan Whyte; most 20, Randy Sheppard and largest family, the Burgsmas. Sunday guests with Lome and Addie Hunking were Marion and Ben Riley of Goderich; Mattie McGregor, Kippen and Clara Riley. June and Stan Crawford of grade 9 and up. Ladies, please decorate your finest vittles in a fashion which will bring the best offering for the fellows. Moms of small children, please pack enough for the wee ones also. Gentlemen, please come prepared to make your best offer on the “Basket” of your choice and a chance to meet new friends for a hearty meal. Coffee, tea and soft drinks will be available at the lunch bar in the gym at the school. DoreenandGlenCarter, Lon­ desboro and Mrs. Larry Carter, Simcoe attended the Convocation Ceremonies held at the Constella­ tion Hotel, Toronto where Larry Carter obtained his C.M. A. degree from the Society of Management Account of Ontario. A dinner and dance foil owed the ceremonies. Sunday they all visited Glen’s aunt, Mrs. Hazel Kerr and Marg­ aret in Toronto. We welcome Neil McDonald from Goderich who is living in Harkes’ front apartment. Club supports Day Centre The Cheerio Club meeting was held at the home of June Fothergill on November 19 at 2p.m. June welcomed all by reading “Novem­ ber”. The roll call was answered by nine members. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Dora Shobbrook. They had an appeal from Huron Day Centre for the Homebound, and The Lung Asso­ ciation Christmas seals. It was moved by Edythe Beacom and Margaret Good to send $25 to Huron Day Centre and not to give to Christmas seals at this time as each had already donated. Collec­ tion was received with a $5 donation from Vi Burns. The draw donated by Tri Duizer was won by Estella Adams. A reading was given by Margar­ et Good called “One of these days’ ’ written by Elaine Townsend. An ‘apple’ contest given by Margaret Good was won by Laura Lyon. At the next meeting, Group 3 Christmas meeting, there will be an exchange of gifts with a value of $2 to $3. Some cards were played and lunch was served by June Fothergill and Margaret Good. Shuffleboard results On Wednesday, November 19, 16 players attended shuffleboard. High score went to Jack Lee. Nancy Penfound, daughter of Lloyd and Vera Penfound gradu­ ated from Conestoga College, nursing division, Stratford, on Friday, November 21. In a class of 43, she was the recipient of the C.V. Mosby Award for third place honours in Academic and Clinical performance. Guests at the Black Beard and pinning ceremony at Central United Church were Lloyd, Vera, Bruce, Kenneth, Olive and Elgin Penfound and Joy Lutz. They all attended a dinner at the Victorian Inn after the ceremony. On Saturday, November 22 Nancy and her mother attended Doon Campus, Conestoga College, Kit­ chener, where Nancy received her diploma. Congratulations. George and Edith Wright, Mabel McLeod and Mary Mair also attended Nancy’s graduation cere­ mony at Central United Church, Stratford. Sorry to report the death of the former Alberta Moon, widow of Fred Armstrong in Hamilton on November 22 at age 83. She will be remembered by many here. Sym­ pathy is extended to fier daughter Eleanor. Jean Scott was a guest on Sunday at the 80th birthday for Miss Lily Taylor in Wingham. Divi­ sions: Juniors up to grade 8, adults 8 tables at Londesboro euchre There were eight tables in play Friday, November21. The winners were ladies’ high, Trudy Pollard; lone hands, Estella Adams; low, Edythe Beacom; men’s high, Harvey Dolmage; lone hands, John Pollard; and low, Ted Mills. In charge were Hazel Reid and Beth Knox.
