Rebekahs support youth The officers and members of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge held their regular meeting at the Arena with a good attendance. Noble Grand Mary Nichol conducted the meeting. A number had visited shut-ins and also Jean and Alvie Higgins on their 50th wedding anniversary. It was reported due to a fall Rita Hoover is in Listowel Hospital. Janet McCutcheon gave a report on Pilgrimage For Youth meeting she and the Noble Grand had attended. It was decided the lodge would support his project and a cheque to be sent to cover the group’s share of cost. The speak- off to be held in Clinton Public School, March 27, 1987. Jim and Pat Davis of Lucan also former Brussels resi­ dents celebrated their 45th anni- The Brussels Intermediate Hockey Team reported a full house on Saturday night at their dance and were sorry that they had to turn people away at the door because there was not enough room. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bray and family of Belmore, Mr. and Mrs. Don Bray and family of Brussels, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Grube and family of Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bray of Wingham visited on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grube in Ethel. It was a celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grube’s 20th anniversary and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Bray’s 45th. Mr. Ray Hemmingway and son Jeffrey visited his parents Carl and Eleanor Hemingway. The other Hemingway families attended a luncheon in honour of Mrs. Hemingway’s birthday on Novem­ ber 11. crowd of “old boys’’ as returned forthetown’s Centennial in 1972. That celebration ran for a solid week, and raised more than $10,000 which was invested and plowed back into the community projects for the next 15 years. Most of the profit from next summer’s celebration will also go toward community events, although each club and organization involved will also be given a chance to do some fund-raising of its own. Secretary Mary Lowe said that the committee met last Thursday to hear updated reports from the various committees and conven­ ors, but added that most areas have not been fully planned yet. “It’s really too early to have it come together yet,’’she said, “but just watch our dust when March and April roll around!’’ The committee met first on September 24 to plan the celebra­ tion, and again in mid-October to set up committees and choose convenors. The next meeting has been planned for 8p.m. on January 8th, at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. After supper they re­ turned to the home of Bill and Gertie for an evening get-together.
