The Citizen, 1986-11-05, Page 11THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1986. PAGE 11. Bulls ring up two weekend victories The Brussels Bulls Junior “D” team was at home to the Belmont Bombers on Friday night. Belmont had almost literally bombed the Bulls on their previous encounter in Belmont. The ghosts and goblins came and went and were enjoyed by all and most left you wondering as to their identity. Midway through the first period Kevin McArter on a pass from Tim Fritz and Rob Cardiff opened the scoringfor Brussels. Itwas5:46 before Belmont got the tying goal and then went ahead at 1:23 on a power-play goal to end the period at 2 - 1 for the visitors. The second period belonged to Brussels as they out-shot Belmont 14-8. Neither team got much past the first shift with a full line of players and most goals were scored short-handed. The insignificant things were penalized and the obvious boarding was overlooked. Kevin Lee assisted by Dave Harding scored the first goal with Blake Flett assisted by Fritz and Lee scoring again at the 14:39 mark. Just 39 second later Brian Campbell scored unassisted. It was at 4:27 when Brian Campbell assisted by Kevin McArter and Kevin Johnston scored his second goal. Kevin Johnston tipped in the fifth goal of the period on a pass from Kevin McArter and Kevin Lee to end the period at 6 - 2 for Brussels. It was five minutes into the third period when Brian Campbell com pleted his hat-trick on a pass from Mike Chapman and Dave Harding. Belmont scored as the buzzer was sounding to get their third goal on goalie Jeff McGavin who had played a solid game in the net. The Bulls had defeated the top team of the league 7-3. BULLS BEAT SEAFORTH Sunday had the Bulls at home to the visiting Seaforth Centennaires for their second encounter of the season. Doug Taylor and Dave Harding combined to score Brussels’ first goal at the 13 minute mark of the first period, with Mike Vincent and Mike Chapman getting the second goal mid-way through the period. Tim Fritz scored the third goal assisted by Doug Shaw and Dean Rutledge closing the period with a 3 - 0 lead for the home team. Kevin Lee assisted by Tim Fritz scored at 11:14 of the second and with only 10 seconds remaining in the period Seaforth got their first goal of the game. The third period had Fritz and Lee reversing their second period play and scored early to add to the Bulls’ lead. The period was half over when Rodney Nicholson scored on a pass from Kevin Johnston and Tim Fritz. Seaforth added their second goal at 6:21. Kevin Lee scored assisted by Doug Shaw at 4:35 and just 43 seconds later Seaforth added goal number three. Dave Harding and Mike Vincent scored the final goal with just 27 seconds remaining in the game. Pat Chambers who played an excellent game in net held the Centennaires at bay as they out-shot the Bulls 20 - 4 in the third period. The Bulls will be in Clinton on Friday night for an 8:30 start but will be idle on Sunday afternoon. They will be at home to the Mitchell Hawks on Wednesday night Nov. 12, for a mid-week game.
