GRADES 4-5
The grade 4-5 class is taught by
Mr. Scott in the morning and
Madame Turcotte-Lapaine. The
students are eager and keen and
working hard. In Science they are
studying the fencerow community.
They did a project and walked
around the school grounds looking
at weeds and leaves. Also in grade
4-5 they have written a pattern
book and illustrated it after the
teacher has read it. The students
are starting a monster unit.

GRADE 7-8
On Monday, October 6 Grade 7-8
class went to the Ska-Nah-Doht
Indian Village at Delaware. Ska-
Nah-Doht is located on 155 acres of
beautiful surroundings of Long-
woods Conservation area. There
was an Indian Village there 1,000
years ago. A class trip to Ska-Nah-
Doht is an excellent place for native
studies.
The grade 7-8 class is doing a
newspaper study. They are grow
ing beans in science class. In their
geography class, they are studying
North America.

LIBRARY
Mr. Kerr is working with Grade
4-5 with novels. He took Grade 2
and helped them with centres and
machinery. He helped Grade 3
with their invention groups. There
are adult and student volunteers
helping in the library. The library
has many new books. There is a
new Resource Centre in the school.

STUDENT PARLIAMENT
On September 19, 1986 the
Student Parliament held a Hat and
Tie Day for the junior wing and a
Future Aspiration Day for the
senior wing. For dressing up the
junior wing played Wilfred and Pip
Squeak. The seniors played King’s
Court. Grades 5-6 and Grade 7-8
tied for a movie because Mr.
Chaulk counted up the percentage
of the people in each class to see
who dressed up and earned to see
the movie.

OUR PRINCIPAL
We have a new principal at our
school this year. His name is Mr.
Ken Scott and he comes to our
school from Brussels Public
School. Mr. Scott says he likes it at
East Wawanosh. He enjoys the
student’s behaviour and appreci
ates the teacher’s help. At East
Wawanosh everyone rides on
buses where at Brussels many
students stayed after school.
That’stheone mainthing he thinks
is different aboyt our school.
