VIC JAMIESON BELGRAVE-BRUSSELS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCHES Whether we want to admit it or not, everyone needs to know that God loves him or her to truly have peace. Unfortunately many people in this world are searching for an answer to this need outside of the Bible. Nevertheless, most of us realize that we need a reliable source of truth to Answer any such Stewardship topic at Blyth United Blyth United Church had a very interesting and informative week end with the Reverand Mr. Craig Railton, Stewardship Secretary, for the London Conference, as the special speaker. He led the workshop on Saturday which was attended by several from surroun ding churches. On Sunday morning he spoke on the subject, “What is our commit ment worth?’’ He dramatized the stories of the rich young ruler, who went away sorrowfully, and of Mary Magdalene, whofollowed Jesus to the cross and was greeted by Him after his resurrection. major concern in life. All of us need to accept the adviceoftheapostle, Paultohis younger assistant, Tomothy in 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, andgivingin- struction in right living so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed.” Let’s not be deceived by Satan, the god of this world, iftto accepting anything The choir sang, “Praise ye the Name of the Lord.” The “Harvest Bonanza” was announced, with clothing sale to run from Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. until Nov. 1 at 5 p.m. and the bazaar, bake sale and tea are Saturday from 2 - 5 p.m. Coffee and cookies were enjoyed following the ser vice. Next Sunday is the 24th Anniver sary of Blyth United Church in this building. The special speaker will be the Reverend Mr. Reid Vipond of Metropolitan United Church in London. Services will be held at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. but the Bible as the means of knowing how to live loved by God. In Romans 3: 10-18 our broken relationship with God and people which began with our grandpar ents in the Garden of Eden is unmasked. ‘ ‘There is no one who is righteous, noone whois wise or who worships God. All have turned away from God; they have all gone wrong; no one does what is right; not even one. Their words are full of deadly deceit; wicked lies roll off their tongues, and dangerous threats, like snake’s poison, from their lips; their speech is filled with bitter curses. They are quick to hurt and kill; they leave ruin and destruction wherever they go. They havenotknownthepath of peace, nor have they learned reverence for God.” The good news of God’s love is unmasked in Romans 3: 24 - 26. “ But by the free gift of God ’ s grace all are put right with Him through Christ Jesus who sets them free. God offered Him, so that by His death He should become the means by which peoples’ sins are forgiven through their faith in him. God did this in order to demon strate that He is righteous. In the past He was patient and overlook ed peoples’ sins; but in the present time He deals with their sins, in order to demonstrate His right eousness. In this way God shows that He Himself is righteous and that He puts right everyone who believes in Jesus.” We only truly know that some one loves us when we receive that love in our lives. In John 1:14 we are told: “The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which He received as the Father’s only Son.” In revelation 3: 19-20 that Son, Jesus says: “I rebuke and punish all whom I love. Be in earnest, then, and turn from your sins. Listen 1 I stand at the door and knock; if i Blyth Christian Reformed Church HIGHWAY4, BLYTH Rev. Everyone who truly turns to Him, and confesses hisorhersins will stoptryingto earn God ’ s love. Such a person will reflect in everything said and done such words as these which point to God’s unmasked love: “Because Jesus Christ did what God wanted Him to do, we are all purified from sin by the offering that He made of His own body once and for all.” May the Holy Spirit unmask God’s love in Jesus Christ so that each of us may know that God loves us.
