Milne, Mitchell, conducted the service in Knox Church on October 12. During the service Miss Nancy Jean Craig presented a new choir gown to the organist, Mrs. Stewart Steiss. Sunday School and the regular morning service are cancelled for October 26 owing to Monkton anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Robin Clay and sons, all of London, visited Mrs. Ida Gordon for Thanksgiving. Garnet Starr, Chatham, and his son Steven and wife, Geralton, visited recently with Don and Mrs. Cotton. Lloyd and Mrs. Smith and family spent Thanksgiving in Harriston with Mrs. Dadswell and family. The Stevenson and Nichol fami­ lies had a double celebration on Sunday, October 12, in the Cran- brook Community Centre. The occasion was the 83rd birthday of Mrs. Pearl Stevenson and the 40th wedding anniversary of Glen and Mary Nichol, Brussels. A group of hunters including Wilfred and Lome Strickler, have returned from a hunting trip to North Western Ontario. Their group brought home six moose. Jim Hart was taken ill while on a Blyth Auxiliary adopts veterans The Blyth Legion Auxiliary met for their monthly meeting on Monday, October 6. It was a busy evening, reviewing the Conven­ tion and the many events for the weeks to come. It was reported that a microwave oven and cart had been ordered to be used by the Branch and the Ladies Auxiliary. Exeter shelves had been built into the kitchen cupboards which should make it easier for putting the dishes away. Two War Veterans from Park­ wood, London have been adopted by the Ladies. On October 19, a group will visit the Hospital to entertain the veteran patients. A donation was given to the Scout Group for all divisions. Several Scout members and parents have given much help to the Auxiliary over the summer. A donation was also given to the Threshers Association. The Zone Rally will be held in Clinton on October 22. Cookbooks in honour of the Auxiliary Diamond Jubilee are at the printers and should be on sale in a few weeks. Another quilt was raffled October 17. A letter of appreciation from the Blyth Festival was received for serving Country meals this sum­ mer. It was agreed to serve Country meals again during the 1987 Festival season. A social time ended the meeting. Advertising is a guide to fashion. CANADIAN ADVERTISING FOUNDATION hunting trip and was admitted to Listowel Memorial Hospital on October 6. He was later moved to Victoria Hospital, London where he is undergoing treatment. Kim and Wayne Smith have rented an apartment in Listowel for the winter. Eldon and Mrs. Wick, Marathon came on Monday for the funeral of his mother, the late Mrs. John A. Wick. She died at Point Clark and the funeral was held from the French Funeral Home, Listowel. Eldon suffered a heart attack on Thursday morning and is a patient in KW Hospital. The Terpstra families had their family get-together in the Com­ munity Centre on Monday, Octo­ ber 13, prior to Mr. and Mrs. Nick Terpstra Sr. leaving for Florida. Baked goods went home by the box full as the baking table was quickly picked over Friday afternoon when the Brussels Women’s Institute Bazaar and Penny Sale was held at the Brussels Library.
