Blyth village council voted,last
week to contact the Wingham
Detachment of the Ontario Provin
cial Police to express concern over
an increased incidence of van
dalism.
Councillors discussed various
senseless acts in the village of late
including the smashing of a prize
pumpkin, a daylight burglary of
one house and, in what seems to be
an annual fall ritual, the theft of
flags from the Radford Construc
tion planter at the corner of King
and Queen Streets.
Councillor William Manning
said that if the communities like
Blyth don’t put up a fuss, officials
will think they can continue to cut
back on service. He said it was his
understanding that the staff at
Wingham had been reduced when
on officer retired and was not
replaced.
Councillor Tom Cronin said that
the last few weeks on Friday nights
had been bad.
Councillor Manning felt a letter
from local municipalities would
