Councillors discussed various senseless acts in the village of late including the smashing of a prize pumpkin, a daylight burglary of one house and, in what seems to be an annual fall ritual, the theft of flags from the Radford Construc­ tion planter at the corner of King and Queen Streets. Councillor William Manning said that if the communities like Blyth don’t put up a fuss, officials will think they can continue to cut back on service. He said it was his understanding that the staff at Wingham had been reduced when on officer retired and was not replaced. Councillor Tom Cronin said that the last few weeks on Friday nights had been bad.
