Representatives from all local clubs and organizations are being invited to attend the next meeting, on October 16. BY PAT COWMAN The girls began their meeting at Nanzy Zellel’s shortly after 7:00 p.m. and discovered they had two new members, Colleen Kuepfer and Cornelia Leuenberger. The members taste-tested four Ethel III 4-Hers taste-test milk different kinds of milk which were powdered skim milk, 2% milk, 2% evaporated and buttermilk. Later they feasted on creamy pasta and hot cocoa. They adjourned the meeting to meet again on Monday, September 29. Do you know a young person who went that extra mile? The search is on for Ontario Junior Citizens of the Year. Brussels sports talk Equipment exchange this week BYLOISMcARTER Have you checked your hockey equipment yet? Yes, Thursday night is the night to bring it to the arena if it doesn’t fit and then Friday night you can come back to purchase some other equipment thatfits. There is always a good selection of skates to choose from each year. While you are checking your equipment please bring back your team sweater that you hung away forthe summer. There are still some of them missing. The referee refresher clinics have passed for those who are now holding their cards. I have a number of dates available for you to attend upgrading clinics if interested. The first level I clinic is scheduled for Seaforth arena on Oct. 7 if you would like to get involved in refereeing. BULLS LOSE The Brussels’ Bulls Junior “D” hockey club played two exhibition games with Mitchell on Tuesday and Friday nights and ended up on the short side of the scoreboard in both games. Their hockey season gets into full swing this weekend as they travel to Exeter on Friday night and Mt. Brydgeson Saturday night. The first home game will be Friday, October 10 at 9 p.m. against Seaforth. INTERMEDIATE TEAM FORMED Brussels will be treated to another senior hockey team this year as an Intermediate team has been formed. Those fellows that travelled out of town the last few years will be playing back home on Sunday evenings this winter. The schedule has been drawn up Rebekah Lodge to install officers at Seaforth Why not honour a deserving kid this year? Due to having vacated the old Lodge Hall, Morning Star Rebekah held their regular meeting in the lounge at the Arena. Noble Grand Barbara Watts conducted the meeting. There was a good attendance and after routine business, plans were made to have the installation of Brussels officers in the Seaforth Lodge Hall, October 14 with Seaforth and ExeterLodges as guests. Mem­ bers are to meet at the EMA parking lot at 7 p.m. Officers are to wear their long dresses. Date of Variety Fair to be held in the Library hasbeenchanged to October 25. Euchre parties to be held in the Library have been booked for October 6 and 20. Prizes and we ’ll see that you get one to clip out and keep track of their games. There should be some very exciting hockey in the arena thisyear, and with the first coating of ice on the arena floor, those games are coming close at hand. You can help Canadian Pacific Air Lines and the Ontario Community Newspapers Association honour these kids by nominating them for an Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Award. Contact your local community newspaper. The deadline for individual and group nominations is October 31, 1986. Ontario Junior Citizens of the Year recipients will receive a plaque, a cash prize, a family photo portrait with the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, and a lapel pin. An invitation to attend Wingham Lodge Oct. 6 was accepted and quite a number plan to attend. An invitation was received to visit Goderich Lodge on Nov. 18 when the president of Rebekah Assembly will pay her official visit was accepted and plans to be made at a later date. Several members reported visiting the sick and shut-ins. The Noble Grand had visited Rene Richmond and presented her with her 25-year jewel. Members hope she will be able to be out and around again soon. Barb McCutcheon and Nelva Scott were appointed as auditors of books to be done before October 14.
