Consumers Affair meeting was held September 10 at 8p.m. The Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada were sung with Hattie Wood at the piano. The president Marg Ander­ son welcomed all. Roll call was a food containing fibre named by 18 members and two visitors. The minutes of the last meeting were read by secretary­ treasurer Alice Buchanan. Corres­ pondence consisted of thank you’s from Marian Doucette, Lady Dian­ na Nursery School, the Nesbitt family and the Buchanan family. On October 4 and 5, there will be crafts at Milton Museum, on October 6 is the W.I. Fall Rally in Walton with delegate Helen Law- son, the Area Convention is on October 16-17 with delegate Mar­ jorie Anderson. A cook book is to be sent for craft. The 1986 W.I. Scholarship was won by Lisa Duizer, a 4-H leader. It was moved to give $200 to Ron Nesbitt and family. The treasur­ er’s report showed a balance of $704.65, savings $1,159.59. The Huronview Bazaar will be held on October 8. Volunteers to help are Beryl Reid, Elma Jewitt, Lois Elliott and Margaret Taylor. Beth Knox gave a reading “Definition of Maternity”. The president thanked Beth Knox for planning the bus trip to see “Annie” and for making the quilt block for the Erland Lee Museum. Lions supper convenors are: September, Doreen Carter; Octo­ ber, Helen Lawson and Marjorie Anderson. Margaret Taylor introduced the guest speaker Barbara Guse, Dietician at Clinton and Goderich hospitals. She spoke on bone calcium and sodium, active miner­ al, milk and milk products. She answered questions. She was thanked by Margaret Taylor and presented with a gift. Helen Lawson reported on the Historical Research meeting to be held September 23 at St. Helens. On October 28 there will be a banquet at Brucefield. Helen Lawson gave the reading A.B.C. ’s of fruits and vegetables. The meeting closed and lunch was served by Hattie Wood and Dora Shobbrook. : ondesboro C* — ] Mrs. DoraShobbrook X 523-4250 Bonnie Lambie speaks at Londesboro United Greeting on Sunday morning at Londesboro United Church was Trudy Pollard. The ushers were Kathy Kennedy, Shannon Duizer, Vicki Riley and Theresa Knox. The organist was Barbara Bosman. Rev. Bonnie Lambie from Wal­ ton and Bluevale churches lead in worship while Rev. Snihur was at the Bluevale anniversary service. She welcomed all and gave the announcements. Next Sunday at 10:50there will be a hymn sing, and next Sunday is infant baptism. Teen youth group will meet Thursday, September 18 at 7 p.m. at the school for volley ball. Bible study is to begin September 26 at 1 p.m. Legion News Pipe Band wins trophy BYEUGENE JANESP.R.O. Congratulations to the Brussels Legion Pipe Band. They won the 2nd prize trophy at the Lambeth Harvest Festival parade on Sept­ ember 6. September 7 was the Zone C convention in Clinton. Following the parade, there was a meeting at 2 p.m. Members attending were: Kathy Burkholder, Marg Bennett, Ross Bennett and Forrest Whit- tard. An executive meeting was held on September 8. The Ladies’ Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on Septeber 8. It was decided to postpone the planned euchre parties until later on in the year. The Brussels Legion Pipe Band played at the Fly-In at the Brussels Airport on September 14, sponsor­ ed by the Brussels Flying Club. The Bi-Annual Ladies’ Auxiliary Ontario Provincial Convention is being held in Windsor, Ontario from September 14th to September 18th. Members attending are: Bonnie Brewer and Barb Graber. Legion Week is September 21 to September 27. On September 27, members will go to London’s Parkwood Hospital for the initia­ tion of adopted veterans to Branch 218, Royal Canadian Legion, Brus­ sels. The initiation will take place at 1:30 p.m. The adopted veterans for Branch 218 are: Victor Delany, Robert Duff and Raymond Bron­ son. The flowers in the church were from the Carol Cartwright and Ben Munning’s wedding and in loving memory of Keith Hesselwood, who was buried on Friday. The child­ ren’s time was “Each One is Special.’’ Junior teacher was Aileen Salverda. The sermon was given by Rev. Bonnie Lambie. Londesboro personals Congratulations to Carol Cart­ wright and Ben Munnings who were married in the church September 13. Patricia and Sarah Millson of Woodstock spent the weekend with their grandmother Dora Shobbrook. Mrs. Glen Carter spent two days with her daughter Colleen in Exeter celebrating Colleen’s birth­ day on Tuesday, September 9 by going to London Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Colin Paterson, Katie and Jennifer of London visited on Sunday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns. They celebrated Bob’s birthday. Congratulations to Lisa Duizer on winning the 1986 W.I. Scholar­ ship.
