Congratulations to Vikie Rodger whose marriage to Robert Siddon took place on Saturday, September 13. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rodger of Auburn. Visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. Rodger were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rodger of Scarborough, Mr. and Mrs. Les Rodger of Belville, Mrs. Pearl Rollinson, Mr. Reg. Cowper, both of Toronto and Mrs. Randy Maize and daughter Jenni. All attended the Rodger, Siddon wedding on Saturday. UCW plans bazaar Unit II of Auburn U.C. W. met in the church Wednesday, Septem­ ber 10. Slides of the Orkney Island, Scotland and England were shown by Mrs. Oliver Anderson and Mrs. Greg Park. In charge of devotion on “The Creation” was Marjorie McDou­ gall and Mrs. Bud Chamney. Mr. Gary Shuttleworth gave prayer. Miss Anita Gross played a piano solo. Leader Miss Betty Marsh con­ vened for the business and reports. Members will participate in a Painless Bazaar which Mrs. Peter Verbeekwill prepare. The Fall Rally willbeon September 30 at Nile United Church. Catering and visiting was arranged. Members answered the roll call with “A highlight of summer.” The meet­ ing closed with “Nine Requisites for contented living.” The conven­ ors served lunch for a social time. Knox church news Mr. Gary Shuttleworth conduct­ ed the service at Knox United Church and Lori Millian was organist. Call to Worship, Prayers and Life and Work of the Church were giver.. The senior choir sang, “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord,” with Lori Millian as pianist. There was a period for children and they went to Sunday School rooms in charge of Julie Glenn, Lori and Donna Lynn Armstrong. The minister chose for his sermon, “OurGreatNeed”. Offer­ ing was received by Peter Verbeek and Murray Rollison. Service closed with the Congregational Benediction, “The Lord Our God.” W/V7S meets The Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home of Viola Raithby on Tuesday, September9at8p.m. The president Martha Daer presided. Mrs. Carol Daer had the Devotional and Meditation was “Makethemostof it.’’ Frances Clark had the study on “Account of the last Supper.” The next meet­ ing will be at the home of Mrs. Don Cartwright on October 15 at 8 p.m. 4-H club organizes Would you like to learn more about milk and milk products? The Auburn Four H Club is looking for girls between the ages of 12 - 21 years who would like to take the fall 4H project, “Milk Makes It.” If you are interested and would like to find out more about the club, please contact Rosemary Kibble, 526-7239 or Glenyce McClinchey 526-7534 as soon as possible. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Gross and family and Majorie McDougall attended the 50th Anniversary on Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. William Ropp (formerly Gladys Gross of Auburn). Description of Land [s] Horticultural Society sees slides The Auburn Horticulture Soci­ ety held its meeting Monday, September 8 at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall with 24 present. The president Don Haines wel­ comed all. O Canada was sung with Marjorie McDougall as pianist. There were many lovely bouquets of flowers on display. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Mrs. Jack Vincent. Treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Ross Robison. Correspondence was read and dealt with. Ernest Durnin entertained with three mouth organ selections accompanied on piano by Marjorie McDougall. Discussion on flower baskets, boxes and fountain stor­ age, etc. took place. Roll call was answered with something strange or different in your garden. Marion Haggitt gave a reading, “Language of Flow­ ers.” A draw was made for door prizes and winners were Stewart Ball, Ruth Jardin and Lillian Stewart. David Cartwright showed some slides of St. Pauls, Minnesota, French River and others of local interests. There were very lovely slides of flowers, bushes and rivers. He was thanked by Don Haines. The next meeting will be November 10 at 8 p.m. Lunch was served by Mrs. Tom Lawlor, Mrs. Bob Arthur and Mrs. Jim Cart­ wright and a social time was had by all.
