Special day for UCW Henry Van Keulen was a centre of attention when he arrived at the Brussels Flying Club’s Fly-in Sunday morning in this armed forces jet helicopter. Henry, a CP Air pilot, serves in the armed forces reserve. He now lives in the Holland Marsh area. More than 30 planes flew into Brussels Sunday morning for the Fly-in Breakfast of the Brussels Flying Club. Here some of the visitors are seen in a view from Gerrit Van Keulen’s plane above county road 16. On Sept. 11, 26 members of the Sunshine Unit of the Blyth U.C.W. and guests Rev. Ken Bauman and Mrs. Bauman sat down to a full-course noon day luncheon in the church's lower hall. It was arranged by Selena Machan and Grace Easom, assisted by Daisy Hollister, Evalena Webster, Mary Hoonaard and Lillian Riehl. This meeting each year is considered special, as it affords plenty oftime for fellowship during the meal and in the parlour before the worship. In fact, at the close of this one, everyone seemed loathe to leave. Rena Watt and Mollie Grant conducted a refreshing worship service in which, through shared readings and a poem, they brought out the fact that there is no more importantplaceio demonstrate one’s Christ-like life style than in one’s living area whether it be in a rural or an urban one. “We should let our religion walk right down main street,” they said. Ella Richmond was at the piano for the hymns. Catherine Caldwell introduced the new Study - the study of problems of “Native Peoples around the World.” She read excellent articles on this subject, showing that land claims are the natives’ chief concern. Such places as Australia, Africa, Chile, Nicaragua, Alberta were mentioned. Co-leader Marjorie East chaired the remainder of the meeting. Treasurer Evelyn Smith gave an excellent report on finances, as did Mary Holland, treasurer for sum mer catering. The largest number served at a theatre dinner was 101, excluding the opening night (145), and at a luncheon, 97. Evalena Webster thanked all for their co-operation, their donations of vegetables, etc. for the caterings. Gene Snell gave the “birthday money” report and Lenora David son’s card report showed that she had been busy for two months and more dispatching birthday, get- well and sympathy cards. Marjorie East noted that the time for handing in the “travelling aprons’ ’ is just a little over two months away. She urged its rapid circulation. The announcements revealed that the next meeting is the Thankoffering meeting on Oct. 5 at which Kim Crawford, niece of Susan Howson, will describe with pictures her trip to Africa this past summer. Members remember her very interesting presentation at the Thankoffering service two years ago on her trip to Australia, and both ladies and gentlemen will not want to miss the Oct. 5 Sunday evening. The dates for the Harvest Bonanza are Oct. 29 - Nov. 1. Work on it, begun months ago, is now intensifying. Its first receipts were received at this meeting at which Mary Hoonaard sold 15 dozen of her choice tulip bulbs. Marjorie East closed the meet ing with prayer. Women's Institute Continued from page 3 Walton on Oct. 6 at 9:30 a.m. The next meeting, Oct. 2, will feature a presentation, “create an individual wardrobe” with Gayle King at 8 p.m. followed by a business meeting in Memorial Hall. Visitors are welcome.
