Brussels WMS learns about people in missions
Melville Women’s Missionary
Society held its September meet
ing in the church parlor with nine
members and 11 visitors attendi-
ing.
Mrs. MacLeod, the president,
opened the meeting with prayer.
All sang “His name is Wonderful’’
and “Jesus Jesus”. Mrs. Mac
Leod welcomed all the visitors. The
minutes of the June meeting were
read by Ruby Steiss. A letter was
read from the Leprosy Mission
thanking the group for its dona
tion. Helen Elliott read a letter
from Elizabeth Arbuckle telling
about a bus trip to the Cape Crocker
Indian Reserve and Saugeen
Indian Reserve and to see the
leaves in colour.
The treasurer’s report was given
by Evelyn Mair and Mrs. MacLeod
dedicated the offering. The roll call
was answered with a verse on
“Rejoice or Joy”. The hymn, “To
God be the Glory” was sung. A
reading on Transportation and
Communication was given by
Evelyn Mair. Prayer by Mrs.
Matheson.
The scripture from Phillipians
chap. 4, verses 1-9 was read by
Isabelle Gibson.
Mr. Jamieson introduced the
guest speaker Mrs. Nugent who is
secretary of children and youth
groups of the W.M.S. Presbyter-
ial. She also showed slides of
peopleonMissionfields. Helen
Elliott thanked Mrs. Nugent. The
hymn, “Great is thy faithfulness

was sung and Mr. Jamieson closed
the meeting with prayer. The
ladies on the social committee
served tea and muffins.
Although the emphasis was on steam power at last weekend’s Thresher Reunion in Blyth, a more placid
means of transportation got a lot of attention in Saturday’s parade. Brian Rintoul of Whitechurch brought
his donkey team to town - we wonder how long it took to get to Blyth?
