Brussels WMS learns about people in missions Melville Women’s Missionary Society held its September meet­ ing in the church parlor with nine members and 11 visitors attendi- ing. Mrs. MacLeod, the president, opened the meeting with prayer. All sang “His name is Wonderful’’ and “Jesus Jesus”. Mrs. Mac­ Leod welcomed all the visitors. The minutes of the June meeting were read by Ruby Steiss. A letter was read from the Leprosy Mission thanking the group for its dona­ tion. Helen Elliott read a letter from Elizabeth Arbuckle telling about a bus trip to the Cape Crocker Indian Reserve and Saugeen Indian Reserve and to see the leaves in colour. The treasurer’s report was given by Evelyn Mair and Mrs. MacLeod dedicated the offering. The roll call was answered with a verse on “Rejoice or Joy”. The hymn, “To God be the Glory” was sung. A reading on Transportation and Communication was given by Evelyn Mair. Prayer by Mrs. Matheson. The scripture from Phillipians chap. 4, verses 1-9 was read by Isabelle Gibson. Mr. Jamieson introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Nugent who is secretary of children and youth groups of the W.M.S. Presbyter- ial. She also showed slides of peopleonMissionfields. Helen Elliott thanked Mrs. Nugent. The hymn, “Great is thy faithfulness Why “Weight” Any Longer Join was sung and Mr. Jamieson closed the meeting with prayer. The ladies on the social committee served tea and muffins. Although the emphasis was on steam power at last weekend’s Thresher Reunion in Blyth, a more placid means of transportation got a lot of attention in Saturday’s parade.
