Fire Chief Howard Bernard, Reeve Hank Ten Pas and Council- lorNeil McDonaldhad formed a committee to look at fire rates and councillor McDonald brought a report to council Monday night. In the past Morris township had paid a $1,000 a year standby charge and $200 per hour for fire calls. Grey had paid no standby charge but had paid $300 per hour. The committee proposed that both municipalities be charged a $100 standby fee plus $300 per hour for fire calls. Councillor McDonald said the committee felt that Grey township should be paying more because there are quite a number of houses right at the edge of the village which would depend on Brussels fire depart ment for protection even though Grey Township has its own fire department. The proposal will be forwarded to other councils for their consider ation. In other fire department busi ness, council approved the insulat ion of the fire hall at a cost of slightly over $2,000.
