PAGE 5. 11 girls nominated for Brussels Fair Queen CONNIE ALCOCK Connie is the daughter of Roy and Shirley Alcock, RR5, Brussels. She attends F. E. Madill Secondary School and is in Grade 13. She’s 18 years of age. She hopes to become either a nurse or a teacher. She’s sponsored by the Brussels Royal Canadian Legion Branch 218. CYNTHIA PURVIS Cynthia is a grade 12 graduate from Listowel District Secondary School. She’s the daughter of John and Pearl Purvis, RR 1, Ethel. She’s 19 years of age and is presently working at the Blue Barn in Listowel .She’s sponsored by the Ethel Women’s Institute. LEANNE ARMSTRONG Leanne, 17, isthe daughter of Jim and Leona Armstrong, RR 3, Brussels. She is a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School. After completing Grade 13, Le­ anne plans to study to become a speech pathologist or a teacher. She is sponsored by the Golden Lantern Restaurant. RUTH ANN WATTS Ruth Ann is 17 years old. She’s the daughter of Max and Barbara Watts. She is a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. In the future Ruth Ann plans to pursue a career in the medical field majoring in patho­ logy. She is sponsored by Radford Auto, Farm and Industrial Parts. CINDY JUNE STUTE Cindy is the daughter of Fred and Marie Stute, RR4, Brussels. She’s a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. She is 17 years of age and plans to be a Registered Industrial Accoun­ tant. She’s sponsored by the Majestic Women’s Institute. CHARLENE STEPHENSON CAROL AXTMANN JOYANNE VAN VLIET Workshop on retirement planned Huron County Health Unit will offer a one day workshop on “Planning Your Retirement’’ on Friday, September 19 in the Huronview Auditorium, Clinton. She is 17 years of age and is the daughter of Fred and Sharon Stephenson of Brussels. She intends to attend Wilfred Laurier University aiming toward becoming a chartered accountant. She’s sponsored by Todd’s Bakery in Brussels. Carol Axtmann is the daughter of Jim and Ruth Axtmann of Walton. She’s 18 years old and enrolled in grade 13 at Seaforth District High School. She plans to attend college and become a dental hygienist. She is sponsored by the Walton Women’s Institute. TARAPARKER Tara Parker is the 17-year-old daughter of Stuart and Karen Parker of Brussels. She is present­ ly a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. After attending high school she intends to pursue a career as a Dental Assistant. Tara is sponsor­ ed by “George of Brussels’’. SUSAN MARKS Susan Marks, 17, is the daughter of Dave and Alice Marks of RR 4, Brussels. She has recently gradu­ ated from Grade 12 at F. E. Madill Secondary School and will be attending Conestoga College this fall for a two-year course in office systems administration. Susan is sponsored by the Brussels Fire Department. Eighteen-year-old Joyanne Van Vliet is currently a grade 13 student at Seaforth District High School. She lives with her parents, Jan and Joyce Van Vliet on a farm at RR 2, Brussels. Joyanne is sponsored by McGavin Farm Equipment of Walton. Next fall she hopes to attend college, enrolled in the occupational therapy course. LINDA TEN PAS Linda is a grade 12 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wing­ ham. She is the daughter of Hank and Agnes Ten Pas of Brussels. The 17-year-old plans to go to college to study physical educa­ tion.
