Swinging Seniors hold dinner meeting The Blyth Swinging Seniors held their August meeting on August 27 at the Triple K Restaurant with an attendance of 34. After a delicious meal, President John Hesselwood conducted a business meeting. A nominating committee consisting of Alvin Procter, Grace Easom and Evelyn Smith was elected to bring in a report at the September meeting. A requestfrom Huronview to take charge of the birthday party in January was accepted. A letter from Huron Pioneer and Hobby Show announced that the admis­ sion for Seniors on Friday, Septem­ ber 5, will be one dollar. The remainder of the meeting was spent playing Euchre, Lost Heir and Scrabble. The September meeting will begin with a pot luck dinner in the Memorial Hall at 12 noon on September 24. He’s in Victoria Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eickmeier of Mitchell called on Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rinn on Monday. Mrs. Elvey Rock and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rinn spent Wednesday visiting with relatives at Brunner and Tavistock. Among those attending the opening night of “Cake-Walk” last Tuesday night was Peter Colley, author of I’ll Be Back Before Midnight. Peter is now commuting between Toronto and California where he is writing for movies. He says he’s made the trip about eight times in the last three months. His play “The Mark of Cain’ ’ has been turned into a movie and he says things finally seem to be coming together for the filming of “Midnight”. We’re glad to report that all members of the Garth Walden family, injured in an auto accident August 23, are home from hospital except for Tim. Tim had an operation last week to put a pin in his broken leg and is expected to be home from hospital in London some time this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bainton have been strong support­ ers of the Pee Wee Boys through­ out the year and their generosity to the team was appreciated by all. Becky Barret of London and Libby Barret of Toronto (former owners of the Blithe Spirit) visited Blyth on Thursday. We welcome back Pat and Grant Sparling after their month long visit to the west coast where they visited with Jim Pollard and family and attended Expo. Village of Blyth and Huron Pioneer Thresher & Hobby Show 25th ReunionOn August 16, after a successful day on the diamond, the Blyth Pee Wee Boys were invited to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bainton of Blyth, to use their Blyth Scout registration set for Sept. Registration for Blyth Scout, Cub and Beaver groups will be held at Blyth Public School on Septem­ ber 11 at 7:00 p.m. There is a shortage of leaders so registrations will have to be limited unless new leaders are forthcom­ ing. Active programs are planned for all three groups and registra­ tion will be $20 per child. This cost covers insurance as well as local and district costs and supplies for the program. If you feel you could become a Smite leader and assist with the develop- ment of boys in the Blyth area, please come to registration. Parade entries can be left at Clerk’s office or bring them to the registration area day of the parade, Saturday, September 6.
