Prices under pressure at Brussels Stockyards The market at Brussels Stock- yards traded under pressure with heavy steers being discounted. Pigs sold higher. There were 853 cattle and 748 pigs on offer. Choice steers sold from $81.50 to $85.50 per hundredweight with a sale at $92.50. Good steers sold from $78 to $81.50. A steer consigned by Ken Dalton of RR1, Walton weighing 1030 lbs. sold for $92.50 with his lot of 24 steers averaging 1153 lbs. selling for an overall price of $84.81. Twenty-two steers consigned by Jack and Wayne Tebbutt of RR 2, Clinton averaging 1182 lbs. soldfor an overall price of $84.81 with a sale at $87.25. Twenty-nine steers consigned by Murray Forbes of RR 2, Clinton averaging 1224 lbs. sold for an overall price of $84.26 with sales to $85.25 and his grandson, Chris’ steer weighing 1290 lbs. sold for $90. Thirteen steers consigned by Ken McLinchey of RR 3, Parkhill averaging 1275 lbs. sold for an overall price of $84.12 with sales at $85. Choice white-faced heifers were $77 to $81. Twenty-seven heifers mainly herefords, consigned by Lloyd Morrison of RR 1, Lucknow averaging 963 lbs. sold for an overall price of $79.59 with sales to $82.60. Thirty-eight mixed hei­ fers, mainly hereford, consigned by Paul Schlegel of RR 1, Tavistock averaging 918 lbs. sold for an overall price of $79.34 with a sale to $84.50. Thirteen hereford heifers consigned by Larry Elston of RR 4, Wingham averaging 940 lbs. sold for an overall price of $78.79 with sales to $81.75. Choice cows were $52 to $56 with sales to $61. Good cows were $48 to $52. Canners and cutters were $44 to $48. Choice pigs under 30 lbs. traded to a high of $1.72 per lb.; 30 to 40-lb. pigs to traded to a high of $1.49; 40 to 50-lb. pigs to a high of $1.39; 50 to 60-lb. pigs to a high of $1.34) 60 to 70-lb. pigs to a high of $1.25; 70 to 80-lb. pigs to a high of $1.18 per lb.
