Several original members of the Walton Women’s Institute were on hand to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Institute’s founding Wednesday night in Walton. President, Helen Craig welcom­ ed the large crowd to the special evening of the Walton Institute and opened with the Institute Ode, the Mary Stewart Collect and O to right] Margaret Craig, Maxine Marks, Alberta Stevens, Marjory Humphries; [back] Annie Reid, Elva Bolger, Berva Watson, Leona McDonald and Mary Humphries. People around Walton Nicki Machan, Goderich and Justin Corrin, London spent a few days last week with the former’s grandmother, Mrs. Viola Kirkby. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and John were Mrs. Ann Playford, Mississauga; Miss Yvonne McPherson, Wing­ ham and Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webster, Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. Don Kuntz and girls, Holyrood visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Thomp­ son and family. Mr. andMrs. Bruce Clark and family returned home from their vacation in Vancouver, where they visited with relatives and took in Expo ‘86. Canada. Marjorie Humphries was pianist. Helen read a poem, “The last few years changes of the W.I. hall”. Secretary, Margaret Shortreed read minutes of the first Institute meeting formed in 1956, and held at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Turnbull. In 1957 there was a membership of 57.
