HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 1986-08-27, Page 9Auburn had its own big-city style traffic jam on Saturday afternoon after a spectacular traffic accident just east of the Maitland bridge tied up traffic both ways on County Road 25 as well as County Road 8. Knox United hears sermon on 'Don't worry' Mr. Gary Shuttleworth was’in charge of the 10a.m. service at Knox United Church with Lori Millian as pianist. Prayers, Life and Work of the church were given followed by the Lord’s Prayer. Miss Lori Millian played an instrumental “How Great Thou Art’’ on piano. There was a time for the children who then went to their Sunday school rooms led by Margo Middle- kamp and Margaret Bakker. The minister chose for his sermon “Don’t Worry’’. Offering was received by Greg Tark, Roger Cunningham, Murray Rollison and Larry Plaetzer. Service closed with Congregational Benediction “Father We Love Thee”. The flowers in the Church sanctuary were placed in loving memory of Viola McDowell by her husband Norman and family. The September 7 Worship Ser­ vice will begin at 11:15 a.m. Building Supplies Ltd. Seers entertained at their cottage in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kai of Wingham who were celebrating their 25th wedd­ ing anniversary and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Anderson of Auburn, cele­ brating their 45th wedding anni­ versary. Many friends and rela­ tives were in attendance and enjoyed a pleasant evening to­ gether. Both couples were reci­ pients of cards and gifts. A delicious lunch was served includ­ ing decorated anniversary cakes. Glad to report Miss Betty Marsh has returned home from Goderich A Alexandra Marine and General hospital. On Thursday night September 4 at 8 p.m. Auburn Women’s Institute is invited to the Blyth Institute meeting to hear Murray Gaunt speak and show pictures of his trip to British Isles. The meeting will be held at Blyth United Church. Mrs. Bess Baechlor is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Beard of Mitchell visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin on Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett were recent visitors with Mrs. Elva Straughan. 8 8 jmiii 8.. 88'8888.
