Kelley & Associates was present to present thereportof the Murray Forbes Municipal drain. Court of revision was set for Sept. 2 at 8:30 p.m. Don Greidanus appealed the assessment of the Gross Drainage Works at court of revision for that drain. The court, headed by Debbie Cunningham in pilot project to computerize Huron school libraries An Auburn woman, Debbie Cunningham, is part of a program to computerize a Huron County school’s library. Ms. Cunningham is working with Peggy Van Wonderen of Varna under the Experience ‘86 program to catalogue the more than 6,000 books in the Huron Centennial School library in Bruce- field. The two are using a computer software program developed for a there will be 15-minute presenta tions by a number of experts in the crop management field, as well as market forecasts and machinery displays. The Centralia research demon stration farm is located four kilometres north of the college campus. Wagon tours commence at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and there will be lunch facilities on the grounds. Deputy-Reeve Joe Gibson with Harvey Stewart and East Wawa- nosh councillor Don Schultz as members, agreed with Mr. Grei danus. The tender of B & M Clark Construction was later accepted for work on the drainfor a cost of $15,500. There were no appeals of the Dodds Drainage Works Repair and Improvement but council did ask Henry Centen of R. J. Burnside library Access System by the University of Toronto. Author, publisher, title, subject matter and other pertinent infor mation about each book is entered on a disk. When the access system is in place, a student wanting to do an essay on cats, for example, will go to the school computer, tap out his request, and in a few minutes receive a print-out of every book in that library containing any mater ial on that particular subject. Arnold Mathers, superinten dent of programs for the Huron Board, said a ministry of education library automation task force is presently studying a number of systems, and a decision on the best system for Huron County will be made later this year. Within five years all elementary and secon dary school libraries in the county should be automated. The University of Toronto system is already in use by schools in Toronto, and Windsor as well as York, Wellington and Waterloo counties. Mathers wants to make and Associates to establish the watershed for Bob Hulley, Lot 35, part lot 34, McKillop Township on the Dodds Drain for future main tenance. Council opened tenders for the drain and at first accepted the tender of B & M Clark Construction for $19,200 then rescinded the motion after the Clark firm was awarded the contract on the Gross drain and instead awarded the contract to MacKenzie and Hen derson Ltd. for $19,786. sure that whatever system is chosen for Huron will be compat ible with other systems, so that Huron students will have access not only to their own libraries, but to all other automated school libraries in Ontario. Mathers said one reason for switching to the new system is to save the time now needed to keep card files up to date. All new books purchased by the schools are accompanied by invoices listing all the information required to format computer disks. Once theHuron Centennial pro ject is completed, other schools will copy the information on all books common to both libraries, and add in data on those exclusive to their own libraries.
