[ e/grave I C______s Mrs. Helen StonehouseV 887-9487 65 gather for Coultes family reunion Approximately 65 Coultes rela­ tives gathered on Sunday, August 17 at the farm of Clifford Coultes. The group are descendants of John and Mary (Spavin) Coultes, who immigrated from England early in the last century. An enjoyable time was spent visiting known and previously unknown relatives. A family tree, made by Chris American relatives visit in Belgrave Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hedden, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Johnston, Cape Cod; and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams, San Anton­ ia, Texas visited last Monday with their aunt Mrs. Ethel Wheeler who wasvisitingatthe home of Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler. Randy Nixon of Oakville spent the weekend at his home, RR 5, Brussels. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McDowell, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wightman, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Nethery, Mr. and Mrs. Les Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Higgins spent the weekend camping at Point Farms Provincial Park, Goderich and square danced at the barn on Saturday evening with Les Greenwood, of London calling off. Several friends from Belgrave and surrounding area attended the gathering in the Bluevale Hall on Sunday afternoon to honour Mr. and Mrs. Bert Garniss who were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. McBurney reunion held in Belgrave The McBu ”ney reunion was held in Belgrave Women’s Institute Hall, Sunday, August 17 with 60 attending from Oakville, London, Cambridge, Chesley, Neustadt, Clinton, Listowel, Seaforth and surrounding area, Ivan and Dan Smith of London entertained the 22 children present with fun and games. Next year the reunion will be in Belgrave Hall the third Sunday in August with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shiell of Oakville in charge. Blyth council expands park More land will be added to the Blyth and District Community Centre and ball park in a deal agreed to by Blyth village council. Council has reached agreement with Murray Siertsema to pur­ chase an additional 5.5 acres off his farm to be added to the rear of the park. The areahasbeenusedby the Threshers Association for parking for the last several years but the Association had been interested in ensuring future use by purchasing the land. The Threshers will be making a donation to the village to assist in the purchase. Purchase price of the land was $2,500 per acre. J Campbell as a school fair project, was displayed, along with family Bibles and other heirlooms and pictures. A pot luck supper was enjoyed by all. Family members came from : Wiarton, Brantford, Varna, Guelph, Alliston, Milverton, Rip­ ley and the Belgrave area. The clan is invited to gather again at the same place next summer, on Saturday, August 22. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgson of Nobleton attended the matinee of ‘‘Another Season’s Promise” on Saturday afternoon, then visited with their cousin Mrs. Olive Bolt. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas and Alicia of London spent the weekend with Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnston, Mrs. Ella Johnston and Mrs. Rella McTeer, all of Paisley and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson of Wingham were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard James. Mrs. Janisa Coultes welcomed the 45 guests and friends and conducted the worship service. Mrs. Glenn Coultes played the piano for the hymns, * ‘Guide Me 0 Thou Great Jehovah” and ‘‘The Lord is My Shepherd”. Mrs. Ross Higgins and Mrs. Jim Hunter were in charge of the program. Heather Hopper enter- ained with a solo and Jennifer Procter a piano solo. Summer residents of the third line of Morris Township, Mr. and Mrs. David Fox, also took part in the program. David entertained with poems by Robert Service, ‘‘The Cremation of Sam McGee” and ‘‘The Shooting of Dan Mc­ Grew.” Barbara Fox led a sing­ song of some old favourites, accompanying herself on the ukelele. The candles were lit by Mrs. Olive Bolt and Mrs. Olive Camp­ bell. Mrs. Ecceles Dow and Kenneth Davis cut the cake. Everyone formed a circle around the honored guests and sang ‘ ‘Happy Birth­ day.” Angel cake and ice cream, tea and punch were served and a social time was enjoyed.
