July 30, saw the Blyth Pee Wee
boys travel to Goderich Township
for their second outing against the
Goderich Township Pee Wee boys
of 1986.
This time Blyth arrived with a
somewhat depleted team due to
vacations at this time of year. Their
first meeting this year in Blyth
behind some strong hitting and
good pitching romped to an easy
victory, buton this occasion the
Goderich Township boys came to
play ball and saw an exciting game
come to a conclusion at the end of
five innings with Blyth winning 14 -
12.
An excellent offensive and
defensive ball was displayed by
Craig Bauman who had an on base
percentage of 1,000. Although
Blyth led by a score of 14 - 5 at the

ERNST UHLER
Ernst Uhler of Grey township
passed away at Wingham and
District Hospital on August 2,
1986. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Uhler had been predeceas
ed by his wife the former Martha
Stewart in 1964. He was survived
by four sons, Victor of Wawa,
William and Ronald of Burlington
and Fred of RR 3, Brussels and by
one daughter, Bonnie, Mrs. Randy
Gellner, Beaconfield, England.
Funeral held in Brussels
end of four and a half innings the
hungry Goderich Township team
showed that they were not out of
the game and they came back to
score seven runs in the bottom of
the fifth. Blyth was able to hang on
to win and made a very entertain
ing ball game.
On August 4, The Civic Holiday
weekend, Blyth travelled to Ben-
miller to have their second outing
against the Colborne Township
Pee Wees. Again due to vacation,
the Blyth team was depleted badly
and it became necessary to call on
two of the Blyth squirt boys
Michael McNichol and Jason
Elliott in order to make sufficient
players for the game.
After losing the initial outing to
Colborne early in the year the Blyth
boys looked for revenge, which saw
them come away with a 17 -15 win.
One brother, Carl Uhler of Seaforth
and nine grandchildren also sur
vive.
The funeral service was held
Tuesday, August 5, 1986 from the
Brussels Chapel of M. L. Watts
Funeral Homes with Rev. Charles
Carpentier in charge.
Serving as pallbearers were
Victor, William, Ronald, Fred,
Bruce and Jeff Uhler. Flower
bearers were Patty, Trevor and
Marta Uhler.
Again some excellent offensive
and defensive work was shown by
Craig Bauman with a home run in
the first. The two rookies called up
for the game proved to be an asset
to the team as both Jason and
Michael had an on base percentage
of .750 going up against some
difficult pitching. Blyth’s record
now stands at four wins, one loss
and one tie.
Remember: August 16. Blyth
Pee Wee Boys host the intertown
ship tournament involving teams
from Stanley Township, Hullett
Township, Colborne. Dungannon,
Goderich Township and the village
of Bly th. The PeeWee Boys look

day.
