Turn bull of Thomas Street, Brussels held an open house on Friday afternoon, August 8 to celebrate Brussels council to review building permit fees Brussels village council will follow the lead of other area municipalities like Blyth and re view its building permit policies, council decided at its August meeting, Aug. 5. Councillors were upsest by what they considered the undervaluing of building costs in some building permits issued in the last few months. Councillor Gordon Work man said he’d had a councillor from another municipality tell him you couldadd $30,000tothecosts of some of the new houses quoted in building permits in reports of meetings in The Citizen. Councillor Betty Graber sugges ted a system of flat fees for building permits based on the size of the house. The cost of the building permit would then vary according to the number of square feet of the dwelling and there wouldn’tbe any reason to give a cost that was less than the actual cost. In the long run, council agreed to examine the problem more in the next few weeks and to discuss the situation with other municipali ties. Councillors were not unhappy with the quoted building costs for two new houses for which building permits were issued at this meet ing. They included Peter Gunt- hardt, for a new home at Maitside Asking for your help fund-raising for the pool. $49,000 $32,500 $10,000 Only $16,500 left to raise! $25,000 AMOUNTTO RAISE THROUGH DONATIONS COULTER-WHITE Mr. and Mrs. Ken White of Brussels are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Gloria Jean to George Doug las Coulter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Coulter, Atwood.
