BRUSS- els,August9. 32-1 Local athletes in Junior Farmer games What kind of farm person in their right state of mind would take a day off work to run a race, throw a softball or even pitch a softball in a 90 degree heat wave? Very enthu siastic ones, I expect! Well, if you have not guessed by now, they are Junior Farmers. A very, very talented group travelled long distances from all across Ontario to compete in the Junior Farmer Provincial Summer Games, held on a beautiful August 9, at the University of Guelph. Do not think that these talented athletes did not have to work to havethe chance of competing in these games. They had all compet ed at Zone level before the victors were decided. At the Provincial Games indivi dual winners each receive a medal and a trophy is presented to the Zone with the highest number of points at the end of the day. A chance will follow to end the day’s activities. The games are organized and sponsored by the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario, a rural youth organization for young people 15 to 29 years of age. The following people will be representingthe Huron County Junior Farmers at the Guelph Summer Games: Robert Hunking, high jump; Brenda Hackett, 100 metre; Linda Cunningham, 200 metre; Neil Cartwright, 100 metre; Robert Hunking. 100 metre; Lisa Boonstoppel, 1,600 metre; Neil Cartwright, discus; Brenda Hack ett, shot put; Larry Plaetzer, Jim Nivins, Sharon Nivins, Ralph Morrison are participating in the Farm Safety Rodeo.
