Free classical concerts at Stratford For the second consecutive season, free music concerts will be featured on weekends at the Stratford Festival’s Third Stage. A project of the Stratford Festival’s musicians with the support of Festival Artistic Director John Neville, the Music Workshop Concert series will include mater­ ial ranging from Brahms, Beethov­ en and Haydn to contemporary jazz and world premieres of new compositions. Concerts in the series are as follows: August2,11 a.m.: TrumpetDuets, Stratford box office tops $6 million Brass Quartets and Percussion Duets featuring A. James Ford (trumpet), Holly Shephard (trum­ pet), Carol Lavell (French horn), Don Sweete (trombone), David Campion (percussion) and Michael E. Wood (percussion). August9,11 a.m.: Haydn’s Sonata in C Major, Poulenc’s Le Bestiare andBrahms’ Sonata in E Minor, Op. 38 featuring David Baker (cello), Marilyn Dallman (piano) and Anne Campion (mezzo). August 15,11 p.m.: An Evening of Jazz and Poetry with David Campion (percussion), Brian Dick­ inson (piano), Arthur Lang (double bass), Michael E. Wood (vibra­ phone) and Festival Artistic Direc­ tor John Neville reading poetry. August 23, 11 a.m.: A program of contemporary music including the premiere of two original composi- ions by Brian Dickinson (Nocturne and String Quartet No. 1) plus selections by A. Copland and J. Ibert. Musicians include Marilyn Dallman (piano), Donna-Claire Chiasson (oboe), Holly Shephard (trumpet), Louise Pauls (violin), Christophe Chiasson (violin), Art­ ur Jansons (viola) and Patricia Mullen (cello). August 24, 11 a.m.: The world premiere of a new composition by Festival Director of Music Bert­ hold Carriere plus selections by H. Schutz and Beethoven. Participat­ ing musicians include Chistophe Chiasson (violin), Marilyn Dall­ man (harpsichord), Arthur Lang (double bass), Don Sweete (trom­ bone), Laura Burton (keyboard), Donna-Claire Chiasson (oboe), Jerry Johnson (trombone), Doug Lavell (trombone), David Baker (cello) and Louise Pauls (violin). Marion Adler and Richard March ofthe Festival Acting Company also will appear as soloists. August30,11 a.m.: Brass quartets and trumpet voluntaries plus Loeffler’s Rhapsody for Oboe, Viola and Piano featuring A. James Ford (trumpet), Holly Shephard (trumpet), CarolLavell(French horn), Don Sweete (trombone), Donna-Claire Chiasson (oboe), Artur Jansons (viola) and Marilyn Dallman (piano). As of July 13, the box office figures totalled $6,135,162. There are still two productions remaining at the 1986 Season. Thursday night, July 24, will mark the opening at the Avon Theatre of Robert Bolt’s A Man For All Seasons. This production is direct­ ed by Walter Learning with set design by Phillip Silver, costume design by Debra Hanson, music by Bruce Ruddell and lighting by Harry Frehner. Friday night, August 1 in the Festival Theatre marks the open­ ing of Cymbeline under the direction of former Festival Artis­ tic Director Robin Phillips with design by Daphne Dare, music by Louis Applebaum, lighting design by Michael J.
