DUCHARME-BENNETT Vacation Bible School held at Walton Couple to live in Brussels Duff’s Church, Walton was the setting for the wedding July 19, 1986 of Gregory Bruce Ducharme of Brussels to Nanci Elizabeth Bennett of Walton. The groom is the son of Oscar and Dorthea Ducharme of Brussels and the bride is the daughter of Ross and Margaret Bennett of Walton. Reverend Bonnie Lamble offi­ ciated at the service. Matron of honour was Nancy Denham, Sea­ forth, friend of the bride and bridesmaids were Pamela Hack­ well, Toronto, friend of the bride, Nancy Sottiaux, Waterloo, friend of the bride, and Julie Hall, Fergus, cousin of the bride. Teddy Bear's picnic at Benmiller park August 4 “If you go down to the Falls today, you ’re in for a big surprise ’ ’. All kinds of teddy bears having a picnic and you, your family and your teddy bears are invited too! The Teddy Bear’s Picnic will be held on Monday, August 4 at the Falls Reserve Conservation Area. There is free day use admission at the Falls Reserve for the day of this special event. Registration is from 11:00 a.m. Vicki Carter, Clinton, cousin of the bride was flowergirl and Lucas Miller, Kitchener, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer. Groomsman was Brian Kelling- ton, Guelph, friend of the groom and ushers were Murray Wheeler, Clinton, friend of the groom, Murray Ducharme, Waterloo, bro­ ther of the groom and Peter Bennett, Walton, brother of the bride. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. The couple will reside on Turnberry Street, Brussels. to 1:00 p.m. with the fun beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be prizes, donated by Goderich and area merchants, for the best dressed teddy bear, the oldest teddy, the most original name for a teddy bear and that’s not all! Activities such as potato sack races, obstacle races, guessing games and more will provide fun for the family all afternoon. Bring along a picnic supper to end an exciting and “bearable” day. Last week the Walton and Area Vacation Bible School was held in the basement of Duff’s Church with an average attendance of 35 youngsters. The workers from the Faith Missions conducted the Bible stories and songs. They wereledby Hester Dougan with helpers Bon­ nie and Lorrie. The younger group of 4 - 5 year olds was led by Darlene Vander- veen. Heather Baanand Bonnie Finlayson assisted. Walton Wl goes to ‘Glory’ For the Education and Cultural meeting of the Walton Women’s Institute, nine members and four friends took in the play, “Gone to Glory”. Prior to leaving for Blyth a short business period was held at the hall. Helen Craig gave out the new program books for this year. The landscaping in front of the hall has been completed with a couple more trees added. A fair queen is to be chosen to compete at the Brussels Fall Fair. Further plans were made for the McGavin’s celebration in Brussels this Friday night, when the Institute and Recreation com­ mittee are to look after the lunch. Floors are to be sanded in the hall. We were reminded that birthday names and Anniversary’s are still welcome for the Institute calendar that is being made. Ball tournament a big success The Walton Ball Park was very busy on the weekend when the Walton ladies put on a slow pitch tournament. In the play offs Sunday afternoon Kenkorwonthe “A” Final with the “B’’ Final won by the Atwood team. Teams that participated were from Brussels, Blyth, Londesboro, Mitchell, Trowbridge, Dublin, Brodhagen, Atwood, Kenkor, Walton and Monkton. People around Walton Miss Kendra Shortreed is atten- ding the Presbyterian Church Camp this week near Kintail. Many folks in the area are away on their holidays, some at cottages, others on trips. The young folk enjoy swimming at this time of year. The swimming pools are a favourite place this past week. It was a good place to cool off. Next group was led by Judy Glauser with Nanci Godkin help­ ing. The older two groups for crafts were led by Diane Baan with Sherri Hoegy and Glenda Carter helping.
