Public meeting to be held in August BY GARY WALDEN East Wawanosh council set August 27 as the date for a public meeting to discuss by-law review of the secondary plan for the township when council held its July meeting, July 8. WayneCaldwell of the Huron County Planning Department ad dressed council and suggested the review of the by-laws of the township. He said councillors should keep five objectives in mind: study community improve ment policies, reduce the days for notices of public meetings from 30 days to 21 days; set site plan control policies; designate areas as natural environment, and redefine land uses of Hutton Heights. Mr. Caldwell’s suggestion on Hutton Heights was to have the remaining land designated for single family dwellings only, with development standards to be met, such as lot size, value of houses etc. Councillor Fred Meier Sr. wanted a sub-division plan for Hutton Heights drawn up rather than considering each lot purchase individually. Councillors agreed that they need something concrete to control the development and told Mr. Caldwell to approach the sub-division by-laws as such. The natural environment areas need to be redefined so that no development be allowed in sensi tive areas, but in other areas such as upland woodlots certain devel opments could be allowed: for example small vacant lots could be farmers are needed to provide work for the Agricrews.
