Public meeting to be held in August
BY GARY WALDEN
East Wawanosh council set
August 27 as the date for a public
meeting to discuss by-law review
of the secondary plan for the
township when council held its July
meeting, July 8.

dressed council and suggested the
review of the by-laws of the
township. He said councillors
should keep five objectives in
mind: study community improve
ment policies, reduce the days for
notices of public meetings from 30
days to 21 days; set site plan control
policies; designate areas as natural
environment, and redefine land
uses of Hutton Heights.
Regarding the site plan control
policy, Mr. Caldwell pointed out
that it gives council the authority to
review any new plans, or buildings

still looking for clients
Agricrew is quickly approaching
the midway point of the program.
The crew members have been
working extremely hard despite
the weather conditions.
The four Agricrews who work
out of Huron County have been
kept busy helping area farmers
with haying, fencing, weeding,
and of course - picking stones.
These eager students have been
working well together as a team
and emphasize satisfying results.
At the present time, area

they would be beneficial to the
township.
Mr. Caldwell’s suggestion on
Hutton Heights was to have the
remaining land designated for
single family dwellings only, with
development standards to be met,
such as lot size, value of houses etc.
Councillor Fred Meier Sr. wanted a
sub-division plan for Hutton
Heights drawn up rather than
considering each lot purchase
individually. Councillors agreed
that they need something concrete
to control the development and told
Mr. Caldwell to approach the
sub-division by-laws as such.
The natural environment areas
need to be redefined so that no
development be allowed in sensi
tive areas, but in other areas such
as upland woodlots certain devel
opments could be allowed: for
example small vacant lots could be
farmers are needed to provide
work for the Agricrews. Bookings
are needed for the time between
now and August 15. If you have an
agricultural related job that you
just don’t have time to complete
yourself, why not give Agricrew a
try. For $90.00 a day, Agricrew
may be hired up to a maximum of
five working days.
