God's covenant sermon topic at Me/vi//e On Sunday morning Holy Com- munion was observed at Melville Church, Brussels. The Choir ren- dered the anthem, "0 Love That Will not Let Me Go," the duet being taken by William King and Murray Huether. Rev. Victor Jamieson chose as his text, "Christ sets us free from the sacrifice of the old covenant." The Israelites were wandering 40 years in the desert and God fed them daily with manna. God spoke to Moses to make a set of laws, written as the Ten Comandments as a way for the Israelites to approach God. God also gave Moses an explicit plan and direc- tionstobuild an earthly tabern- acle. Exodus: 25 and Hebrews 9: 1-15. It was to made of offerings of the people of gold, silver, brass. precious stones, fine lines and wood. All this was the old covenant, but God saw the need for a new covenant. God made a new coven- ant for the fulfilment of salvation. Jesus is the door. The junior congregation was lead by Lori and Donna Lynn Armstrong and Joyce Bean. The minister's sermon was entitled "Signs of the Past". Offering was received by Peter Verbeek and Steven Millian. Next Sunday, March 23 will be Palm Sunday with Holy Communion Service. April 2 will be the Annual Sunday School Pancake Supper and tickets are available from the Sunday school members or teach- ers. Times for settings are 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m. Please get tickets as soon as possible soyou won't be disappointed. Blyth Lost Heir party held Seven tables were in play at the Blyth lost heir card party at Memorial Hall on March 12. Alma Madill had the top score for the ladies while Alvin Snell had the best score for the men. Out- side, overa wood fire a barbecue of toasted buns and wieners and marshmallows was enjoyed by all. Other events also took place to make a very delightful outing for all.
