Students will be excited or in
some cases unexcited, as report
cards went ,home with the
students on. Wednesday,
December 15. Some pupils were
very surprised with their marks
while others were extremely
disappointed. I know those, stu-
dents with the disappointing
marks felt like heaving their
report cards into a snow heap
All the students at Brussels
Public School are getting
inipatlent waiting for Dec, 22 to
come, so they can be free from
school, The students will be off
school from Dec. 22 until Jan. 3,
They will not only be waiting for
holidays but also for the folly old
man we all love. From the

School fair board
holds annual and
elects officers
The annual, meeting of '
Belgrave, Blyth, Brussels School
Fair Board was held at the East
Wawanosh Public .School on
December 8 with 8 in attendance.
William Coultes, President called
the meeting to order.
The 1977 fair will be held on
September 14. The election of
officers and - directors was
conducted by Mrs. Janisa
Coultes. They are:

vice president - Ross Procter; 2nd
vice president - Jack Higgins;
secretary-treasurer - Joyce
Vincent.

Guild installs
new officers
The Guild of Melville.
Presbyterian Church met at the
home of Mrs. Sam Sweeney for
their ChristmaS meeting.
After singing a carol by the
group, a poem was read by Lynne
Haveman. Judy Shortreed gave
the message, followed by prayer
by Mary Ten Pas.
Kathleen Semple had a
reading, !`I Like Christmas", Jdy
gave a humours reading "Willies'
Portion."
The Bible reading-"The.
Christmas Story:: was in charge
of Mrs. Innes who divided the
members into three groups for an
interesting contest. "Preparing
For Christmas".
Margaret McCutcheon
presided for business. The
secretary's report was given by
Isobel Adams and the treasurer's
report by Rose Marie Bishop.,
It was decided to have a pot
luck supper at the January
meeting, with. Rose Marie and
Kathleen Semple in charge.
The new slate of officers was
brought in by Isobel Gibson.
Officers, for 1977 are:.
President-Margaret McCutcheon,
Vice President-Marguerite
Krauter; Secretary-Jsobel Adams;
Treasurer-Rose. Marie Bishop;
Pianist-Helen Elliott; Sunshine
Committee-Margaret Sweeney
and Winnifred Edgar and Press
Reporter-Thelma Cardiff.
The Guild purchased table
centres for the. tables at the
Nursing Home, and one of these
was Shown by Rose Marie,
Bishop.
Margaret McCutcheon thanked
Margaret Sweeney for inviting
the. Guild to her home.
There was an exchange of
Chrismtas gifts, followed by carol
singing.
Lunch was served by Judy
Shortreed, Carol Innes, Kathleen
Semple, Mary Ten Pas and Lynn
Haveman.
