The Federated Women's Insti-
tutes of Ontario met in Toronto
for the 'annual meeting, Nov. 29 -•
Dec. 3. The president, Mrs.
Maluske, welcomed 32 Board
Directors and two Junior Board
Directors from the ' 32 Sub-
divisions of Ontario. Mrs.
Maluske suggested a theme for
1977. A.F.E. "Aim for
Excellence." Two new Junior
Women's Institutes were
welcomed from St. Thomas and
Hastings. County.
The president spent four busy
days at the Erland Lee Home,
Storney Creek, during W.I. week
when 800 visitors came ;to the
Home. Mrs. Wm. G. Miller was
the chairman for the weeks
activities. In June the 7th
National convention of the Feder-
ated Women's Institutes of
Canada was held in Charlotte-
town, P.E.I.
Mrs. Maluske presented the
Entrance Awards for the College
of Consumer Studies of Guelph,
given each year by the
Mrs. Earl Morden, the secretary-
treasurer, represents us
on the Niagara Escarpment•
Interest Groups Advisory commit-
tee. 0 Miss Margaret Meyer, Act-
ing Director, for Home Economics
branch, MInistry Agriculture and
Food, expressed appreciation to
attend the annual meeting' of
F. W.I.O., being fully aware of the
aims and objectives, and the
educational programs that are
carried out, through 4-H, Senior
leader Training ' Courses, arid
workshops.
Mrs. Russell Campbell, Iona
Station, secretary-treasurer I
Officer's Conference, reported a
very successful 28th Conference,
held at the University of
Waterloo in June. 480 persons
attended. In 1977 it will be held
May 3-5, at the same place, the
Humanities Theatre will be avail-
able. Program planning will be
stressed for branch conveners of
Citizenship & - World Affairs,
Educational and Cultural Activi-

According to Lee Boyd, district
employee relations officer for the
Ontario Nurses Association,,there
is no progress in sight in stalled •
negotiations between the Huron
Health ,Unit and its nursing
employees or between, Health
Units in Mi'd'dlesex-London, St.
Thomas-Elgin and Lambton and
their nursing employees.
The' Heatlh • Units • and their
nurses have yet to come to an
agreement in a dispute which has
been' going on for more than a
year.
According to • Ms. Boyd the
main diffiCulty in the negotiations
was the PRO' section at Officers
Conference, and the .five days in
the WI. Dropin. Centre at the
Bruce County Ploughing Match.
