the parade- starts at 2 p.m., so
that even the smallest child will
get a good position for viewing

A new corner, Torn Pletch,
topped the polls in Monday's
election for council in Brussels,
when 60 per cent of the eligible
voters came out to the polls.
Mr, pleteb got 349 yotes, ahead
of incumbent councillor- George
Jutzi who polled 286. The other
present councill or running for
re-election, Frank Stretton, came
next with 279 votes.' The fourth
councillor elected was newcomer
Malcolm Jacobs with 272. The:
fifth council candid**, Michael.
ConabOy, polled 172 votes.
Although high for many areas,
the 60 per cent turnout was low
for Brussels. Clerk Bill King said
the final tallies were known. by
about 10 p.m.
Oscar Kieffer got 4 votes to-
Eugene Frayne's 0 in. Brussels in
the vote to represent ,separate
school supporters of the Huron
Board of Education.
In a close contest for Huron
• County School Board, present
trustee Charles Thomas won in
Brussels with 283 votes, over
former trustee Don McDonald
who got 201 votes in Brussels.
Mr. McDonald, however, won the
seat on the board, representing
Brussels and Grey when he
captured 190 votes in Grey
• Township to Mr. Thomas' 93.
Final tally was, 391- for Mr,
McDonald and 376 for Mr.
Thomas. Voting was light in Grey
where township officials wer ' ail
acclaimed. --
Present reeve . Bill Elston
defeated a challenge from deputy
reeve Jim Mair by 294 votes to
276, Wilfred Shortreed, won
Morris in the Huron County
Board of Education race but was
defeated by John Elliott in Blyth
and East Wawanosh, giving Mr.
'Elliott the seat on. the board. 49
per cent of those eligible voted in
M'orris. '
In. Blyth Mr. Elliott :won. 401
..votes to Mr. Shortreed' s82 and in
Eait Wawanosh .he won by 229 to
121 votes for Mr. Shortreed.
Totals in that race were 834 for
Mr. Elliott and 547 for Mr.
Shortreed.

Brussels on Monday but it was
busier than expected for a time a

basement.
Shortly after the polls opened
at 11 a.m., a voter, Mrs. Ann
Cassidy, slipped on the basement
floor, which was a little wet from
traffic in and out, and broke her
, With, the.help 'of poll officials
and peoplefrpin, the cl'erk's office
across the street, .mrs. Cassidy
was reit-toyed by -ambulance to
Wingham and District Hospital,
where it is expected she will be a
patient for some time.
