Harold is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cantelon of Wingham. Daughter. Linda of oronto Western Hospital and son Greg with Metropolitan Police, Toronto were both hoitie for the event. Doug Mumford, Harold's for- mer Forest Fire Control Supervisor, capably acted as master of ceremonies and during the course of the evening, saw that the guest of honours' Memory of certain past ,events was adequately refreshed. Several of these "events" were, amusingly displayed by sketches done by two of the fethale staff and placed around the walls. Harold was asked to explain the background of all sketches depict- ing such occurrences as "Walk- ing on the Water at Sandbanks Provincial Park", "Dropping, his. fully uniformed parks supervisor in a pool of water, Spending.: the night with his car hung up ori a rack while chasing deer ja&- lighers on a remote bush road; .Discouraging nude sun bathing in, 'District Provincial Parks;" etc. When the laughter quieted down, each of Harold's Branch ' Supervisors had their opportunity to get their last "wack at the boss," by way of sPeCial presentations. Bill Hueston, the Regional Director for the Eastern Region of the Ministry, colorfully traced Harold's career with the Province of Ontario after a stint of five years with the R.C.A.F. This including one year with the former Department of Game Fisheries as an Overseer for Huron and parts of Bruce County with Headquarters at Wingham. Following amalgamation of that Department with the Department of Lands and Forests transferring from Wingham to. Meaford. Being promoted to Deputy District Inspector and transferring to the Owen Sound office. Then from 'Owen Sound to the Lake Huron District Headquarters in Cambridge (formerly Galt and Hespeler). In February 1958, Harold trans- ferred to the Tweed Forest District in. Eastern Ontario as Parks and Recreation Areas Supervisor and Mr. Hueston spoke glowingly of Harold's achievements in supervising the development and, operation of such new Provincial Parks as Sandbanks, Outlet Beach, Lake April Elizabeth McBurney 'became the bride of Greg Eldon Cook on November 12, 1976, in Belgrave United Church: Rev. In concluding his remarks, Mr. Hueston spoke of Harold's climb from a Game and. Fisheries. Overseer in 1945 with a salary of $100. per month, to a District Manager in charge of a Forest District in 1973. In responding, Harold stated he learned something from each of his nine former supervisors commencing with his first boss, the Deputy Minister of the former Department of Game and Fisher- ies and ending up with Mr. Hueston. Amid bursts of laughter, those present listened intently to favourite expressions used by former supervisors during trying occasions. He spoke warmly of his past . associations With Conservation Authorities, Representatives ,of the People, the support and—oo.,operation of his staff throughout the Forest District and his good relation- ships with Regional and Head Office in Toronto. Belgrave was maid of honour. She was accompanied by Miss Cathy Fischer, sister of the bride, Miss Lori Purdou of Whitechurch,Miss Janet Cook, of Belgrave, both friends of the bride. The groom's best man Danny McBurney of Belgrave, brother of the bride, Marvin Cook of Belgrave and Danny Hunter of Belgrave, both friends of the bride and groom, and Rick McBurney, of Stratford, brother of the bride. The reception was held in the Wingham' Legion. Guests were from Listowel, Teeswater, Shel- bourne, Stratford, Whitechurch, Mississauga, London, Hamilton, Hanover and Belgrave. Music was provided by Scott's orchestra. Following their wedding trip to Niagara, the bridal couple will live in Belgrave. In summing up, Harold stated he would follow the same route if he were to start over again and spoke warmly of the support and understanding of his wife and, family over the years, especially in the earlier years when the job demanded long absences from home. Mrs. Sheila Mumby, Harold's secretary, made the formal presentation of a well endowed wallet and among other fitting remarks, promised from here on it would, be "Harold" not Mr. Cantelon. Although renovations are expected to total an approximate '550,000, the necessary repairs are minimal compared to many others in the area which also must Meet the 1972 regulations. The strengthening of the side walls is almost finished and reinforcement of the roof trusses has begun, but is foreseen to involve a great many man hours yet. On completion of these repairs, which hopefully will be early 1977, the centre Will be open for its usual winter sports. But this will not conclude the full extent of remedies the 27-year-old arena will need. The auditorium roof is also in need of extensive reinforcement, and while this work is' going on Players and sports fans will have to use the back door at the opposite end of the ice surface. Foreman Arnold Bruce, Ralph Campbell and Jack Van Camp instruct the volunteers daily now that all plans for repairs have 'been approved by the Ministry of Labor. Rev. J. Roberts is in charge of the building committee and suggested that al) men who are willing to donate their help Would be gratefully appreciated. Those wanting to help should contact Rev.
