What Can We Do?
This question was asked by two
boys.
It was suggested to them that
they could and should try to, raise
money for a new arena; not just
let Mom and Dad, Gram and
Gramps dig deep all the time,
Realizing that every•dollar would
count, they talked it up among
some others and decided they
would see what they could do. So
they asked George Cousins if he
would help them with a plan.
George agreed being that he is
at the school most of the day
anyway. He made up tickets for
them 'to sell. They return the
money to him at any time, to
keep, until they want to turn it
over to the arena fund.
There are several ways to raise
.a little money such as collecting
bottles, raking leaves, shovelling
snow, baby sitting, raffles,
picking up the mail on stormy
days for the elderly, running
errands and so on. These are just
a few suggestions and there are
many more.
As they realize that the taxes
are soon due, Christmas just
around the corner, it might be a
little harder to sell tickets at this
time of year, but they are going
ahead with their ideas anyway.
The price for the tickets was
decided at a cost of one for .25 c,
three for :50c and a book of six for,
$1.00 and that this stands for any
raffle. If there are quite a number
of kids involved, it would be
broken up into 2 or 3. or more
groups with each. group f,;elliing
tickets on a different article with a
value of 'not more than $10 to $15.
This, past week • fickets were
sold for a $10.00 Grocery Voucher
at G.W.Stephenson's Grocery in
BruSsels. Now, this week they
will be' selling tickets for a dinner
for two valued at $10.00 at the
Olympia Restaurant in Brussels.
With a plan of this nature, it is
open for any child (town or
country) who wishes to get
involved to raise money for\ the
new arena.
Miss Luella Mitchell was the
winner of last weeks $10.00
grocery voucher at Bill
Stephenson's Grocery. \
