Mrs. Clare Veitch was leader
for the November meeting of the
W.M.S. at the home of Mrs.
Stuart McNair. Thirteen
members and one visitor
attended. The meeting opened
with a poem"Remembering",
and singing "0 Master Let Me
Walk with Thee".
All joined in reading Psalm 46,
followed by a meditation and
Remembrance Day story "Peace
among nations" and prayer by
Mrs. Veitch. "The Lord's My
Shepherd" was sung and Mrs.
Stuart Stevenson gave the topic
"Do you remember?"
Mrs. Gordon Engel presided
for the business when the
minutes were read by Mrs.
Stevenson in the absence of the
secretary, Mrs. Leslie Knight.
The different secretaries
reported. A verse on
"remembrance" was given for
roll call.
The December meeting will
begin with a pot luck dinner. at
12 noon at the home of Mrs. Lylle
Gordon. This was the annual
meeting of the group and the
following slate, of officers will act

officers and Mrs. Stevenson was
secretary. Mrs. C. Cameron led in
prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs.
Stevenson and Mrs. Strickler and
the hostess.
Personals
Rev. Ross Thomson of St.
Catharines occupied the pulpit in
Knox Church on Sunday. The
girl's choir contriubted a number
under the direction of Mrs. Stuart
McNair.

her husband to Cranbrook and

the south west drain will be

new street lights were purchased.
PUC chairman Krauter
reported that both hydro and
water rates will go up in February
and will be billed mon thly. "Our
water is still the cheapest
around," he said. The PUC had
bought a new ladder truck which
town and firemen can also use
and had replaced a 1948 water
pump at a cost, of $600.
Mr. Krauter, who is also the.
Brussels representative to the
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority, said he hoped to see
rebuilding of the old mill dam
within a few years "or soon we'll
have no dam,"
Gerald Gibson reported on his
work aS the Brussels rep to the
Wing, am and District Hospital
Board,
Monkton.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Dunn, Rick
and Bonita of Bloomingdale
visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Dunn.
Mr. and Mrs.Howard Mitchell
spent several days last week in
Thorold and attendedthe funeral
of a friend.
The proposed Huron-Perth
Health council was the topic when
the Cranbrook W.I. -met.
November 8 at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Engel. Mrs. Veitch
welcomed 9 members and 11
guests.
The 4-H Achievement Day for
"The Cereal Shelf" is November
20 at Grey Central Public School.
Mrs. Veitch thanked those who
helped with the October birthday
party at the .nursing home in
Brussels.
Mrs. Engel gave a brief report
from the Curator's meeting at
which a house log competion was
discussed.
A committee of Mrs. W.
Strickler, Mrs. C. Veitch and
Mrs. F. Workman will plait for the
Jersey Club banquet to be held at
Cranbrook Hall, December 2 a
noon.
Everyone was ' reminded of
their responsibility for one
member on the program of the
Community Christmas Concert to
be held December 10.
Mrs. N. Lefor as convener of
"Family and Consumer Affairs"
chaired the remainder of the
meeting. The motto "It's all in
the state of mind" was ably dealt
with by Mrs. Lefor.
Mrs. Workman introduced
Mrs. Carl Johnston of Bluevale
who is a member of the
Huron-Perth steering committee
for a District Health Council.
Mrs. Johnston explained the
function of the steering
committee as well as presenting
facts ' about the function and
make-up of a district health
council. The steering committee
has been made aware of both
advantages/ and disadvantages of
such a council.
A spirited question and answer
session followed her address.

Mrs. Johnston was thanked
and given a small gift 'by Mrs.
Leslie Knight.
Mrs. Cox enlivened the
meeting with •several smiles.
The roll call "do you use safety
belts in your car?" received many
varied answers.
Mrs. Workman, Mrs. Cox and
Mrs. Engel served lunch.
