22 members of Huron's Alpha

in teaching the handicapped to

showed how, the young and the
not-s-young are taught to
overcome such problems as lack
of balance and fear of heights.
Riding opens new doors,
Persons who h ave always been

Board
supports
resolutions
The Huron County Board of
Education agreed to support two
resolutions, one dealing with
Hydro 'rates and another dealilng
with school insurance, when it
met on Monday afternoon.
The Elgin county Board of
Education resolution noted that,
"-Whereas the insurance
premiums payable by Boards of
Education throughout the
`Province of Ontario hav esca-
lated drastically within the past
two y ears, be it resolved that the
Elgin County Board of Education
contact all other Boards in the
Province and the Trustee
Organizations requesting that the
Ontario Trustee Council
investsigate the possibility of
Ontario School Boards starting an
Ihsurance Fund with the view to
making the Ontario School
Boards _self-insuring."
A second resolution, from the
same source, urged that a letter
be forwarded to the Minister of
Energy expressing opposition to
the proposed increase in hydro
rates.
It was the position of the Elgin
Board that the continual "high
increases in hydro rates, 30.5 per
cent in 1977, as compared to an
increase of 10.8 per cent in the
maximum ordinary expenditure
per pupil which will be recognized
for grant purposes over the 1976
fnaxirriinn i only leads to a further
erosion of the4ionteS available to
the Board to 'spend on actual
classroom instruction of its
students."
that
"Each.

passing

allowable by the Ministry of
education in the expenditure'
ceilings and is now reaching a
point of inajot concern," it said.
