There will be a ratepayer's meeting in the
basement of the Brussels Public Library on
Wednesday, November 10th
at 8 P.M. NOMINATION procedures for the
forthcoming ELECTION Dec. 6 will be
. discussed.
EXHAUSTED —Ralph Watson was panting and in
pretty bad shape, but he managed, to finish the 10
mile walkath on for the new .arena on Saturday.

People We Know Lawn bowlers
executive Work and Play Club have
been enjoying a 3 week course on
bead ma :king instructed by Mrs.
Russel Knight.
Mrs. Glen Bray of Brussels has
returned home after a five week
stay in Stratford and Listowel
Hospitals. She had the misfortune
of falling , and breaking her hip.
Mr. and Mrs. John Armstrong
were guests at a family party held
at Paradise Park in honor "of their
25th Wedding Anniversary.
Friends, relatives and neighbours
enjoyed dancing and presented
gifts and good wishes to the
anniversary couple. Mr. and Mrs.
.Armstrong expressed their
thanks to all who made the
occasion a happy one.

Day address
October 31
A special Columbus Day
address will be heard over Radio
Station CKNX on Sunday,
October 31 at 6:00 P.M. according
to an announcement made by
Philip Durand, grand knight of
Father Stephen Eckert Knights of
Columbus Council Nu'mber 5289
in Seaforth. Mr. Durand stated
that the address would be
delivered by Dr. John W.
McDevitt, supreme knight of the
Knights of Columbus. The
executive head of -the more than
1.2 million member Catholic,
family, fraternal, service
organization will speak on "In
God We Trust".
In commenting on the program,
Mr. Durand said, "Four Iitindre'"
and eighty-four years ago,
Christopher Columbus completed
one of the most daring and
courageous exploratory sea
voyages recorded in the annals of
mankind - the discovery of the
North American Continent. One
and a quarter million men of the
western hemisphere, all Knights
of Columbus members, join
together this week in observing
this the anniversary of Columbus'
epic voyage."

The annual fall meeting of the
Brussels Lawn Bowling Club was
held at the clubhouse on
Wednesday evening, October
13th, to wind up the activities for
the year. A successful and'
enjoyable season of bowling was
reported.
The following officers were
elected for the 1977 season:
President; Gerald Gibson;
Vice-Pr esident, Otto Hoffman;-
Secretary, Ruth Hupfer;
Tournament Secretary, Lydia
Turnbull; Treasurer, Norman
Hoover.
A social hour followed the
business in cards and lunch.
Winners at cards were Jim
Bowman, Jack Yuill, Isabel
Adams and Marjorie Bowman,

Tests passed last week in
Vanastra was. Kevin Wheeler who
also passed his second figure.

shank led the rebounders with
seven rebounds a piece and each
girl also netted ten points.

Dorothy McCauley on Sunday.
Barry McCauley of Stratford and
Dianne Maxwell spent Sunday at
the same home.
Girls Basketball - last Thursday
Stratford Northwet ern' s Senior
and Junior Basketball teams
visited our school. Our teams
played a very strong game
against both Northwestern teams
and ended up defeating both.
Final score for the Senior team
was .a win of 25 to 19 and for the
Juniors a 33 to 16 win.
The following Tuesday our two
teams travelled to Clinton. The
seniors suffered a very frustrating
loss to Clinton 22 to 36. At the
end of the first _quarter, Madill
was ahead . by eight points.
However, Clinton soon turned out
