Residents enjoy music,
dancing and sing-a-long
The Goderich Township Women's Institute Volunteers
assisted with Monday's old tyme music, dancing and a
sing-a-long program. Mrs. Molly Cox, Mrs. Maitland Driver,
Norman Speir and Charlie Ruffell provided the music.
The Family Night program was arranged by Bill Reihl of
Clinton and included musicians, who are• known as "Beauty
and the Beasts". Mrs. Bill Reihl plays piano, Helen I3isback
and Bill Reihl harmonica, Jim Burgess and Lloyd Crich guitar
and Wilfred Jervis the bones and symbol. Mrs, Hattie Burton
expressed the appreciation of the residents for the enjoyable
program of music.
The Lakelet Womens Institute were hosts for the October
birthday party and Mrs. Lyle Murray, was emcee for the
program. Mrs Ervin Reidt was pianist for the sing-a-long and
musical numbers. George Cook entertained with harmonica
solos and Mrs. Clifford Hallman and Mrs. E. Ferguson gave
readings. Following the presentation of gifts birthday cake
and tea were served by members of the Institute. Fred
Turner, one of the celebrants, moved a hearty vote of thanks
to the ladies on behalf of the residents.

The police officer asked the
bank teller, who had been robbed
for the third time by the same
man, if he had noticed anything
specific about the criminal.

Mrs. Jim Armstrong showed
slides of a trip which she and her
husband enjoyed in Britain when
members of the Bluevale
Women's Institute met at the
home of Mrs. Robert. Fraser for
their October get-to-gether
In her role as president, Mrs
Armstrong opened the meeting
with the Opening Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. Mrs. Bill Peacock
read the minutes and
correspondence.
At a later date, the Bluevale
W I. will present a program and
visit the residents at Brookhaven
Nursing Home. . The Brussels
W.I. invited the group to its
meeting on November 10 at 8
p.m. Bluevale W.I. is sponsoring
an old-time dance in Bluevale
Hall on November 26.,
Four get-well cards were
signed by the members to be sent
to the sick. Mrs. Charles Mathers
reported on the Huron County
rally. .Many things were
discussed ,pertaining to the
International Plowing Match
which will be held in Huron
County in '1978. New songbooks
are going to be made for the
Institutes.
Following a lively singsong,
guest speaker Mrs. Kenneth
Johns spoke on 'Footprints - The
Mark They Make in Life Will
Show."
It was announced' that Miss
Sandra Stewart was awarded the
Huron County scholarship, an
honor bestowed annually by
Huron W.I. groups to an
outstanding scholar who has also
been active in 4-H projects. Roll
call was answered by naming
books the members had enjoyed
reading recently.
The November meeeting will
be held at the home of Mrs.
William DeVos. Asa roll call,
members will be asked to name a
television commercial that turns
them on or off.
