Grandmothers were guests at
the Citzenship and Worlds Affairs
meeting of the Walton Women's
Institute at the Community Hall
on Wednesday, October 20th.
Mrs. William Humphries, 1st
Vice Pr esident chaired the
meeting in the usual manner and
Welcomed everyone. Mrs. H.
Bolger was pianist. After the
minute were read by Mrs. Ken
McDonald, twenty-five members
answered the roll call - "Name
something truly Canadiati".
There were six guests present.
The Achievement Day for the
fall project, "Cereal Shelf" is to
be held at Grey Central School on
Saturday, November 20.
Everyone was urged' to attend.
A wreath is being purchased
along with other area branches.
Mary Humphries is to lay it at
Brussels A r1mistice Service,
November 11.
An invitation was declined to
the Majestic Institute meeting
next month in Brussels, as it falls
i)n the Walton meeting night
November 10, being moved on
one week.
Mrs. W. Humphries expressed
thanks to all who had helped
clean the hall. Mrs. Alberta
Hudie is the new caretaker.
Anyone wanting the coffee urn to
get in touch with Maxine Marks.
Institute members are
reminded of a penny auction
again next month, when 4-H girls
and mothers will be invited, also
the 25th Huron County Rally at
Dashwood on October 4. Mrs.
Ken McDonald read the
afternoon session report in the
absence of Mrs.Herb Traviss who
had attended the Rally as
delegate.
Committees were chosen for
card parties which will be held
every two weeks in the hall. The
Institute will provide the lunch.
The next one is November 9th at
8:30 p.m. •
The collection and pennies for
friendship were taken by the
treasurer.

Mrs. Herb Traviss was a
patient the first of this week at K.
& W. Hospital, Kitchener,
having foot surgery on Monday.
She expects Ito be home again

During the week October 18-24,
O.P.P. officers, at Wingham
Detachment conducted thirty-,
eight investigations.
Fifteen charges were laid under
the Highway Traffic Act and
fifteen warnings were issued.
Three charges were laid under
the Liquor Licence Act.
Four charges were laid under
the Criminal Code.
On October 18, Barry Hogg of
Gorrie reported that. someone
stole the wheel discs off his Ford
Thunderbird while it was parked
oir the B. line of Turnberry
Township on October 17. The
wheel discs were valued at .$260.
On October 22, John Binning,
age 17 of R.R. 3, Listowel and
Murray Williams, age 17 of R.R:
3, Listowel, were charged with
attempted theft of gasoline from
the ,John Langendoen farm in
Howick Township.
On October 22, the Herbert
Spencer residence was entered in
Belgrave and $270. in cash was
taken. Prov. Const. John Vessey
is investigating.
On October 23, as a result of a
motor vehicle collision on Huron
County Road 30 in Howick
Township, Wilbert Laniond
Griffith, age 29, of Gorrie
WAS charged with extorting $500. front
Ronald Preiss, age 29 of Clifford.
Prov. Const. Ken Murray and
Prov. Const. Harold McKittriel
are in charge of the investigation,
During the week, there were
eleven motor vehicle collisions
which caused an estimated $5050
in property damage and injuries
to two people. Brenda L. McCann
of R.R. 1, Fordwich and Deanna
G. Boyd of Gorrie were involved
in a collision on County Road28at
James Street in Gorrie. Both
drivers were injured as a result of
the accident.

on "Retirement". She spoke of
