The game played on Oct. 7 was
a well-fought battle even though
the jr. Mustangs lost 2.1, to 12.
One highlight was Brad Cook's 53
yard runback af, .ter an inter-
ception. Brad's overall yards
rushing was 132 yards. Another
highlight was Andy MacDonald's
30 yd. runback- on a kick off
return. The first of the two
uncoverted touchdowns was
made by Grant Gnay on a short
yardage quarterback rush. The
second occurred on a punt that
-was blocked by Doug Taylor and
recovered in the end zone by Brad
Cook.
The total offensive gain was
182 yds., quite a jump from the
first two games. This shows the
boys have been working hard and
deserve a lot of credit.

Interesting
art display
in library
This week, the library has been
brightened by various wall-
angings and framed pictures.
The artists are interesting in
hemselves. Many are Canadians
who have studied in Canada and
here are also various artists from
Germany, England and the
Netherlands. Some of the artists
epresented are James Kemp,
Thelma Rosner, Zarski, Pat
Merley and B en Linssen. The art
comes from the London Art
Gallery and it is presented by
"Extension Services" which is
funded by 'the National Museum
orporation.
The art is abstract, and
herefore thought unusual by
some of the more immature
tudents who have expressed
unnecessarily rude comments on
he sheet provided. However, it is•
lot the opinion of the majority,
and the time and effort to present
'Ito us is very much appreciated.

went to school here but she still
finds everyone "very nice to get
along with". Teaching three
grade nine, one grade ten and
three grade twelve math classes
doesn't leave her much time
to wander about, but she still
finds herself a little lost in the
new wing of the school. Mrs
Elston enjoys the assemblies
since they were something
Goderich had very rarely and also
finds the students "very keen" at
them.
As a teacher she hopes "each
student will live up to his own
abilities" and she feels that her
duty lies in attempting to
motivate the students as well as
she can. As a wife, mother and
full-time teacher she hasn't got
any personal philosophy but to
take things- "one day at a time"
although she is a firm believer in
the "Golden Rule."
We welcome Mrs. Elston back
.to Wingham High School and we
wish her much success in the
future.
Eleanor Johnstone
Mrs. Lynda Elston nee Lynda
keavie, although no stranger to
wi ngham, is new to the teaching,
staff at Madill. She was born and
raised in Wingham where she
attended both public and high
school. After graduating from grade 13
Mrs. Elston went to Western
University in London where she
majored in psychology and math.
Mrs. Elston lived in residence at
Western for part of her first year
but moved soon after she left the
window open in her room causing
the radiator pipes to freeze and
break. The water that flooded her
room made the rug shrink along
with her popularity! Of all times
for the rad. to break on the day of
the University's annual ball. No
one appreciated having to get
ready in the cold rooms while it
was being fixed. Perhaps this
incident is a contributing factor to
her receiving her diploma in two
years rather than three.
Upon graduation from
Western, Mrs. Elston went to
Althouse College in London
where she received her teaching
diploma. She then returned to
Wingham where she has lived for
the past five years commuting to
Goderich where she taught math
to our arch-rivals at Goderich
Collegiate Institute. The Elstons
had a baby in June and Mrs.
Elston joined the math
department at Madill so she could
be closer to home.
Mrs. Elston admitted that she
enjoyed teaching at Goderich but
that "Wingham is a little better.
After all, I'm a product of it."
Incidentally, Mr. Elston is also a
graduate of Wingham High
School). She does find it a bit like
being "a student in the staff-
room," since some. . Of 'the's'
teachers taught her when she
