After sampling the many
desserts at the Institute Dessert
Euchre on Friday evening in the
community hall, there were 16
tables of euchre in play.
Prize winners were high lady -
Mrs. Howard Brown, Monkton;
low lady - Mrs. Torrence Dundas.
High man - Dave Watson; low -
Mrs. G. McCall (playing , as a
man). Other prizes given were
- cooked the largest turkey for
Thanksgiving - Irene McCall;
Man with the most change in his
pocket - John Simpson, Brussels;
ladies with most buttons - Maxine
Marks. Recent grandchild - Dora
Shobbrook, Londesboro. •
Ticketi were sold on a cushion
donated by Eva Mills and won by
Alberta Hudie.
Mrs. Bill Humphries was M.C.
for the evening and announced
the regular euchre to be held
Tuesday, October 26th at '8:30
p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Skit on Stewardship -
Stewardship was the theme for
the October meeting for the
Walton Unit in the basement of
the church on Wednesday
evening with 23 members
present.
Mrs.Edna Hackwell opened the
devotions with a Thanksgiving
poem. Hymn "'O Sing a new
song to the Lord" was sung
accompanied by Mrs. Ray
Huether at the piano. Prayer was

Ron Godkin gave the Call to
Worship for the October meeting
of the Mission Band on Sunday
morning,• October 10, held in the
basement of the United Church.
Hymn, "Can a little child like
me." was sung assisted by Cathy
McGavin at the piano. Jeanne
McDonald gave a "Thanksgiving
Reading," followed by John
Huether giving prayer.'
Cheryl Fraser gave the
secretary's report and Cathy
McGavin followed With . the
treasurer's report. A reading was
given on Unicef, then the offering
was received for Unicef and
dedicated by Ron Godkin.
The members were reminded
that gifts for the Children's Aid
Society in Goderich should be
brought to the November
meeting. 'The Whole wide
World" was sung prior to going
to their classes with teachers,
Doreen Hackwell, Dorothy
Sholdice, Maxine Marks and
Laura Dennis.

Mrs. Hackwell read the
scripture from Luke 16: 1 - 13,
followed by comments on the
Stewardship scripture, "How
God judges how we make our
money and spend it in the market
place."
Mrs. Edna Hackwell and Mrs.
Herb Traviss gave a "Skit on
Stewardship" with the discussion
on M & S Funds, the way it is
spent, when it is 'to be sent to
Toronto and what members can
do about it.
The stewardship committee
should draw up a budget for the
year, and certain ' objectives
should be named where the
U.C.W. money is sent each year,
they said.
Mrs. Mac Sholdice collected
the offering and it was dedicated,
Mrs.Hackwell closed this part of
the meeting with a poem. Hymn
"0 Master, let me walk wityh
Thee" wa's sung.
Mrs. Ron Bennett, Presided for
the business. Mrs. Howard
Hackwell read the minutes and a
thank-you card.
Mrs. Walter Bewley brought
back a report of the Regional
meeting that seventeen of the
U.C.W. had attended recently at
Northside United Church,
Seaforth.
Mrs.R. Bennett reported for
the highlights of the U.C.W.
executive meeting early in the
month. Observers are to be again
purchased for every family.
Anyone wishing to donate for
their subscription may do so to.
Mrs. H. Craig., Calendars are to
be ordered for the coming year.
All resignations for officers of
the U.C..W. are to be in by the
end of October.
It has now been decided that
tickets are to be available for the
Turkey supper on Noveniber 3.
Waitresses are to be at the church
by 3 P.M. Any shut-ins of the unit •
are to let Jean Bewley know, if
they, want their supper sent but.
Mrs. M. Sholdice gave the
treasurer's report. Members
were reminded • of the copper
contest Collection Tor next month.
Mrs. Bill Coutts reported for
the quilt committee, it was
decided prices should go up for ,
the quilting, plan to get started
later next month.
The Unit meeting for
November will be put off a week,
'till Wednesday, Nov. 17.
Mrs. Bennett closed the
meeting with a . poem "Our
Thanks to Thee'.
A , social half 'hour was
enjoyed when lunch was served
by Mrs.Bill Thamer and
Mrs. Nelson Marks.

were supper guests Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs.George
McCall. On Saturday evening
