The F.E.Madill Junior team
started off an exciting season
playing . against St. Marys. Our
top scorer was Janet Wood with
10 points. Although the Juniors
played well the game ended 23-22
with St. Marys on top. ,
The second game was against a
rather weak Seaforth team. The
Madill team shone through,
winning 69-6.
Exeter came to Madill on
Tuesday, October 5 and provided
the Madill fans with an exciting
game. Again Madill won the
game with a score of 23 - 18. The
top scorers were Kathy
Cruickshank and Janet Wood
with 7 points each.
Crosscountry
teams win
. The Madill Cross-Country
teams have competed in 2 meets
now.
In Stratford on Sept. 28, 14
schools ran in the annual
Stratford central meet. the Madill
teams finished in the following
order: Midget Boys, 7th; Junior
Boys, 9th; Senior Boys, 6th;'.
Junior Girls, (th; Senior Girls,
6th.

Madill were Ken Netzger
and Mark Haldenby who finished
24 and 25 out of 112 runners. In

Kinahan was 13th; Ketih Metzger

Grand River meet.
Madill team results: Boys:
Midgets, 14th; Juniors, 6th;
Seniors, 6th; Girls: Seniors; 4th.
The Junior Mustangs have not
been very successful in, their first
two. games.
The first game, an exhibition,
resulted, in a one sided score 'with
Norwell winning 48-0. However,
in the second game the Mustangs
showed continual improvement as
the game progressed but lost 24 -
0 to Listowel. The fact that
Listoivel had beaten Norwell by a
large margin in the past, suggests
that the Mustangs did not do too
badly.
This year's team is made up of
a large number of rookies who
show a lot of desire but very little
experience. With time, they will
improve --we have confidence.
Some of our veterans from last
year who have played very well
lately are Brad Cook, Kevin
Carter, Mark Passmore, A rchie
MacDonald, Steve Hamilton,
Doug Taylor, Ed. Haines, Rick
Deichert, Marty Young, Mike
Beattie, and Lyle Bridge.
The Rookies who show talent'
are the quarter-back Grant Gnay,
full-hack Dwayne Letteau, Half-
back Randy Gnay, and defensive
centre Doug Morland.
The Junior Football team has
introduced something new this
year, "The Player of the Week".
Last week's winner was. Mike
Beattie, and this week's winner
was Brad Cook.
The next game will be at Exeter
on Thursday, October 7.
The Senior Boys Volleyball team
played in their first tournament of
the season here at F.E.Madill on
Wednesday,Sept. 29. In their
first match the Mustangs crushed
Exeter 15-2 and 15-9. In their
second and final games the
seniors met Madill's arch-rival
Goderich. In these exciting games
Madill came through again with
15-13 and 15-8 wins. Congratula-
tions Team!
The • Junior Volleyball team,
under coach, Stuckey, started it's
season well on Wednesday,
September ,29.
The first and second matches
Hopefully the team will chalk-up
its' first win. We wish them luck.
Players of the we ek have been
Mike Beattie, Rob Demaray and
Brad Cook.
were played against Exeter and
Goderich, respectively. Exeter
was not much of a problem for the
Madill team and was defeated in
two games straight. Goderich was
more Of a challenge and narrowly
won the first game .17 - 15. Madill
fought back and won the second'
game 16 - 14, again a close one:
The third and final game went to
Madill. After ' many tense
moments Goderich was defeated
by a score of 15 - 11.
Thanks to the cheerleaders and
the fans who came to• support the
teams. Let's hope they continue
in their winning ways for the rest
of the season.
