Listowel District Secondary School Chorus, who, will perform in Brussels on October 16 in connection with the 100th Anniversary of Brussels United Church, is -known throughout Canada as one of the nation's premier youth singing groups. For over thirty years, they have Maintained a tradition . of fine choral singing. This year, under their conductor, Gerald Fagan, promises to be a busy season. Brussels, other than singing in the auditorium for their school, is their first performance. Later this fall they will sing in Toronto twice, and in Listowel. This year the Chorus is composed of 95 singers, chosen from grades 11 to 13, and rehearse each day of the school year. 'In Brussels, they will perform a varied program including folk songs, negro spirituals, religious music and popular songs. This group's past accomplish- ments have been quite impressive. They have captured first awards at the Toronto Kiwanis Festival and overseas in Ireland at the CORK International Music Festival. In 1974, they were named the top choral group in Canada, when they performed at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa for the Canadian Music .. Educator's Association.
