Mr. and Mrs. L. Brothers of
Scarborough were visitors last
week with Miss M. Skelton. Miss
Paterson of Mimico also visited
with Miss Skelton.
Mrs. Ada Armstrong, Mr. and
Mrs. James Armstrong and
family spent a , recent weekend
with Mrs. Luella Clarke, Toronto.
While 'there, they visited with
The Community Brass Band
provided the entertainment at the
Blyth Threshers Reunion on
Sunday afternoon. The 30-piece
Band under the direction of
Charles Toll opened the program
with stirring marches followed by
variety numbers including:
Highland dancing by angela
Andreassi of Seaforth; Baton
Twirling by Anne Marie Paynter,
Kirkton and. Susan Maddock
pupils,of Mrs. Dorey Wheal of St.
Marys; VOcal duets by Susana nd
and Allen Stacey with guitar and
acc. They are grandchildren of
Harrear Stlacey of Stacey Bros.,
Mitchell; Step dancing by the
Finlayson sisters, pupils of Mrs.
Orville Storey of Seaforth; Vocal
duet by'two band members from
Dashwood, Stan Haist and Jack
Geiser with guitar acc.;
Impersonation of Al Jolson series
of old time songs by J. Reynolds
of Stratford.
The Kland finished the program
by another group of popular
numbers.,
Blyth will be celebrating their
Centennial next summer and the
Band would be glad to help put
Majestic
ladies hear
about FWIC
convention
The Majestic Institute met
September 8 in the library with
the president, Mrs. Doris McCall,
in the chair. A thank you note was
received. from Ruby Stiss and a
card from Mrs. DeVries, who is
visiting in Holland, wishing the
Institute the best. The , Huron
County Rally is to be held October
4 at Dashwood with Mrs. Alberta
Smith as delegate.
Mrs. Abner Martin is to be
guest speaker at the November 10
meeting when she will speak on
her Agriculture Tour of China.
The 4-H leaders for the course
"Cereal Shelf" are Jane
McDonald, Kim Ducharme, Jean
Bell and Sharon Wilson.
Roll call was Something of
Interest from a Home and
Country. Many interesting
subjects were brought out.
Leona Armstrong, convenor of
citizenship and world affairs, took
the chair and called on pamela
Wilson for piano numbers. She
'was presented with -a gift.
Marie McCutcheon introduced
Mrs. Walter Scott of Belgrave,
guest speaker, who gave a
resume. of her trip to Charlotte-
town; P.E.I. to attend the
F. W.I. C . Convention.
Mrs. Clarke Matheson thanked
Mrs. Scott and presented her with
a gift.
Leona Armstrong gave the
patient in Seaforth Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Parr and
son Michael of Prince George,
B.C. were visitors in Brussels
with her sisters, Mr. and. Mrs.
Ned Rutledge and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack McCutcheon: All attended
the Sargent - Watters wedding k Powassan on sat uroav,
.September 11. Mr. and
-Louis Ebel of Ingersoll, who wen visitors with Mr. and Mtf: McCutcheon, also attended the
