Rabies test
takes 3 hours
It takes only. three hours for
Agriculture Canada's Health of
Animals Branch laboratories to do
a highly accurate test on animals
suspected of having rabies.
Rabies- testing is done at the
department's Animal Pathology
Division labs in Ottawa,
Lethbridge,. Alta., and Sackville,
N.B.-If the test is positive, the
district veterinarian is telephoned
immediately so that people in
contact with the animal can begin
treatment. Because of the
vigilance of the Health of Animals
,Branch, very few Canadians have
died of the virus disease which is
transmitted by the bite of ,an
infected animal.
There have been fifteen Prime
Ministers since Confederation.
The shortest 'administration was
that of Sir Charles Tupper, which
'lasted from May 1 to July 8, 1896.
