Use hot water wisely
Save energy...Save money
Apart from home heating, a family usually consumes
the most energy in producing hot water.
• Here are just a few small things you can do, that can
add up to a considerable energy saving. Turn off
hot water taps so they don't drip, fill clothes Washers,to
match the size of the load, wait until you have a full load
before using a dishwasher and remember showers usually
require less hot water than baths. Try not to use

The Conservation Authority
will not move to expropriate any
,of the land in the flood plain area
said Mr. Deslauriers.
"It just creates bad feeli ngs on
all sides," he said.
Mr. Deslauriers said the
Authority will offer to buy the
land which is in the worst flood
area first. The land.. under
consideration consists of 100
acres including about seventy
separate properties, thirty of
which have housing on them.
"At one point everyone
thought this area would only be
flooded once in every twenty
years, but in the last three years it
has been flooded four times,"
Mr.Deslauriers said. "It is just
unpredictable.'
This area is an obvious flood
hazard, he said, but the flood
plain criteria for other areas in
Ontario is 'at present under
review. The decision regarding
the criteria will decide if the area
now mapped as flood plain in
Brussels will remain restricted.
