SOMERVILLE-HAGGITT
Carolyn Elizabeth Haggitt, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. George Haggitt of Blyth and Paul Elliott
Somerville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Somerville,
R.R. 4, Walton were married on June 26 at Blyth
United Church by Rev. C.L. Wittich. Attendants
were: matron of honour, Mrs. Evelyn Blake, R.R. 2,
Blyth'; bridesmaids, Mrs. Ann Nesbit, R.R. 2, Blyth;
Mrs. Susan' Haggitt, Blyth and Mrs. Kathy Black,
Belgrave. The groom was attended by Neil
McNichol, R.R. 4, Walton and the ushers were Bryan
Somerville, R.R. 4, Walton; Gordon Haggitt, Blyth
and Bruce Lamont, Seaforth. Following the
marriage, a smorgasbord lunch and dance was held
at the Blyth Memorial Hall. After a honeymoon in.
Nbrthern Ontario, the couple will reside at R.R. 4,
Walton. Prior to the wedding, showers were held by
girlfriends at Mrs. John Nesbit; bride's relatives at
Mrs. Gordon Haggitt and by neighbours at the home
of Mrs. Jerry Heffron and a Jack and Jill party at:Mr.
and Mrs. James Blake, R.R. 2, Blyth.

MRS. WANDA SMITH
In Seaforth Community Hospi-
tal 6n. Friday morning, July 30,
Mrs. Wanda Smith. of Brussels
died quietly after a long illness, at
the age of 80 years, 6 months..
She is survived by: seven
daughters; Freda, Mrs. Emil
Wudrich, Woodstock; Mrs. Anne
'Henderson, Whitemonth, Man.;
Helen, Mrs. George Wesenberg,
Brussels; Edna, Mrs. Ivin Shan-
non, R.R. 4, Walton; Mary, Mrs.
Gerald Koebel, Bridgeport;
Alma, Mrs. Leverne Hugill, R.R.
2, Seaforth and Lorraine, Mrs.
Ronald Dale, Seaforth; and two
sons, Adolph of Sutherland, Sask.
and Walter of Thunder Bay.
She was predeceased by her
husband ,Ferdinand Smith about
15 years ago and' by two daugh-
ters, Adeline, Mrs. Gerry Voisin
of Waterloo and Esther, Mrs.
Chas. France of Aurora.
Mrs. Smith is also survived by
53' grandchildren and 28 great-
grandchildren, two sisters and
three brothers. •
After resting at Max Watts
Funeral Home, Brussels, the
body was removed on Monday
August 2 to St. .Peter's 'Lutheran
Church, Brodhagen where
funeral services were held at 2
o'clock with Rev. Arthur Horst ,
officiating.
Mrs. Smith moved to this area
from Saskatchewan in 1939 and
was a meinber of the congrega-
tion since then.
Burial followed in St. Peter's
Lutheran Cemetery, adjoining the
church property., Pallbearers
were grandsons, Biran Dale,
Jamie Hugill; Ricky Koebel,
Ricky Smith,' Robt. 'Shannon and
Larry Wesenberg. Flowerbearers

J. ALEXANDER STEISS
John Alexander Steiss, 74, of
Brussels died suddenly in List-
owel. Memorial Hospital early
-Tuesday morning, July 20, 1976.
He was the only son of the late
Louis W. and Maryann (Stewart)
Steiss of Grey, Township. .
He was born Dec. 6, 1901 on
the farm on the 14th concession of
Grey where he farmed until
retiring to Brussels 10 years ago.
He attended, Cranbrook Public
School and was a member of
'Melville Presbyterian Church,
Brussels.
He. is survived by his wife, '
Ruby, whom he married 47 years
ago June 19; three daughters,
Mrs. Charles (Winnifred) Mann
of R.R. 2, Listowel; Mrs. Harry
(Eileen) Mann, R.R. 1, 'Listowel)
Mrs. Gordon (Jean) Stiles, of
Stratford; one son Stewart Steiss
who now is living on the "Century
Farm" R.R. 2, Brussels. He is
also survived by five sisters, Mrs.
Jack (Orma) Wilson, Brussels;
Mrs. Arthur (Lola) Nicholls,
Atwood; Mrs. Oscar (Iona)
Huehn, Conestoga; Mrs, Cal4
(Lydia) Cameron; andEmyleAt,
both. of Cranbrook. He was tht
grantgatflerof nine grandchildret
and three great-grandchildrea,
The funeral service was
from the M.L. Watts Funeral'
Home, Brussels with Rev, Kea:;
neth Innes 'officiating. Burial
in Cranbrook. Cemetery,
The flowerbearers were foul,
grandchildren, John Mansi;
Sharon Mann, Donelda ,Stiles art
Allan Mann.
Pallbearers were three graaf
son-in-laws, Terry Yost, Freda
Smith, Ted Moore and three'
neighbours, Jim Armstrcq'
Douglas. Evans and Jack Knight;'
Contributions were accepted
for the Ontario Heart Fund as
expressions of sympathy.

died on Saturday, July 31, 19761e.:
Crippled Children's Hospital,
London. Surviving besides her;,
parents are: one brother, David af;
hoine, and her grandparents Mr,
and Mrs. Lawrence Jacklin and,
'Mr. and Mrs. William Kellington,
all of Brussels.
