Jack Dicker, department man- er, warns that improper install- on of these units has already used a number of fires in homes d apartments in various parts the province. 'The most common cause is ing overloaded extension cords d plugging them into recept- les not designated for this pose." He said each air conditioning it should have its own wall ceptacle capable of •carrying 15 peres. Hydro inspectors ported one Windsor house ffered $21,000 damages cently traced to an overloaded ension cord behind a chester- Id. Another common fault is plac- g the cord beneath a rug. When erheating occurs in the cord, it start a serious fire. Blowing of ses is another warning that ention is required. "Follow the instructions which ompany each air conditioner hen it is purchased," Mr. cker said. Here we are in holiday time but our residents have not been forgotten as many of'them have been visited by friends and relatives from Ohio, U.S.A., Mississauga, Toronto and other surrounding cities. We were very sorry to say goodby to Ron Forshaw who has been the administrator here at the Callander Nursing Home. He left as of July 1st. The home is now owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Kay who are no strangers to many of us here. Work on the grounds is taking shape and in the near future, we will have our own parking lot. We were very pleased one afternoon to be entertained by Douglas Stewart of Seaforth. Mr. Stewart was accompanied by Mrs. Mervyn Pipe at the piano. The W:I. of Brussels came with a very much enjoyed program. Mrs. Harmon DeVries gave a reading; Mrs. J. Armstrong and Mrs. Clarence McCutcheon a skit, followed by step dancing by Leanne Armstrong. This was greatly enjoyed by everyone. The way Leanne can keep time to the music! The birthday of the month of June were remembered, these being; Charlie Buck, Mr. Cook and Mr. Pollard. We had again no pictures this month as Alfred Knight has been unable to come. We hope to have Mr. Knight in the month of August again for we understand he is much improved, and his pictures are much enjoyed by us all. The Country Barn Dance from Ayton was heard on CKNX on Saturday evening, July 17. Archie Mann, George Smith and Alf Nichol entertained us one after- noon with their music. Archie was accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Donald McTaggart who resides in the nursing home here. We were sorry to have taken from our midst on Sunday, July 18, Miss Ella Pearson. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon. Slim hers, Mel 'L' I • 3. Cut out along dotted lines and I mail to address shown. 1 1 4.
