Mrs. Mac Engel
The Women's Missionary Soc-
iety of Knox Presbyterian Church
was held at the home of the
President, Mrs. Gordon Engel.
Eleven members and four visitors
were present. Mrs., Earl Dunn
opened the meeting with a
reading and the hymn "All
people that on earth do dwell"
was sung with Mrs. Clare Veitch
at the piano. The Scripture
reading, Genesis Chapter one
was read in' unison. Mrs. Dunn
gave a report on the. W.M.S. bus
trip to Toronto on Monday, June
21. The bus left Monkton at 7:30
a.m. with bus driver Ralph
Adams. Places visited included
Armagh, Church Campus at Erin
Mills with Rev. R. Gellatly
speaking and showing pictures. A
picnic lunch was enjoyed at noon,
then to Holy Blossom Synagogue
at Toronto, Queen Street Inner
City Church, and a visit to historic
old. St. Andrew's Church where
Rev. Douglas Stewart spoke to
the visitors. Following supper at
Old Ed's Warehouse, the bus
made a brief stop at Crieff Retreat
Camp near Guelph, then home
from a most interesting day.
Mrs. Stanley Fischer gave
"Thoughts of Summer" based on
Psalm 24 and read a poem "Quiet
Thoughts". In her interesting and
informative topic she told of many
foods and materials peoples of the
Bible used. Some mentioned were
flax and its uses, cotton, sild,
dyes, trees, food plants, cereals,
fruits, spices, etc. Coloured pic-
tures of many of these were
passed around. Following the
hymn "0 sing a new song to the
Lord" Mrs. Mrs. G. Engel
conducted the business. Roll call
was "a favourite holiday", Mrs.
Coulthard, the Presbyterial.visit-
or is expected to be at our
September meeting at the home
of Mrs. Veitch. Closing hymn was
"We plough the fields and
scatter". A social half hour was
enjoyed when cake, ice-cream
and beverage were served by.
Mrs. Lylle Gordon, Mrs. Leslie
Knight and the hostess.

Donkersgoed, Bernice and Luke
have returned from a motor trip to
Brandon, Man.
Miss Susan McKone, London,
has been visiting Mrs. Lylle
Gordon the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Close
and son Tyler, Chatham, visited
Mr. and Mrs. D. Chubb at the
store this past week.
Mr.' and Mrs. Clem Sterner Jr.
and family left on July 12 for
Peace River district, Alberta,
where he is taking up farming and
also teaching Junior High School
in the town of Fairview.
Mr. and Mrs. John Voll and
girls, Marathon, visited the past
week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Engel and other
relatives.
Mrs. Frank Green, Wintlipeg,
visited with her cousins, I Mrs.
Martin MacDonald and Miss
Kate McNabb recently. Other
visitors at the same home were
